Alchemist has consistently improved his craft over the years more than any producer in Hip-Hop history.

He's top 3 producer without question

His sample game is only rivaled by Kanye and DJ Paul

:obama:

Uncle Al is the whole truth.

Your comment on sampling made me think about this old Twitter thread a came across a couple of months ago talking about DJ Paul. Scroll through that joint. It’s dope

Dude loves this shyt. He just keeps working… he doesn’t just sit back like “I’m alchemist” he keeps it going. I had Havoc over him for a while. But i switched that eventually. Alc just KEEPS dropping dope shyt
I agree. Dude just has stayed on the grind for so long.

He was hotter back in the day imo

He follows the madlib/.ug producer blueprint too much for my taste. Changed his whole style to that. His full produced albums are straight hit and miss.and way more miss imo. Like lopsided misses to hits.

Hes good for that perfect track every few songs. But not on repeat 20x a whole album. And that means something. To me anyway. His work with roc marci amd mobb deep is the real a tier al stuff.

I agree that he's probably the most consistent, and I rank him quite high myself - but saying he hasn't reached the peaks of a Dre or Rza or Premo (or Hav etc) is a bit of an understatement imo.

As dope as his body of work is, he hasn't come close to the best of some of the top tier production works of Hip-Hop. Especially if we're counting full albums.

Consistency does count, a lot - but so does quality, and imo he just hasn't produced albums dope enough as some of the greats for me to put him over them :yeshrug:

An example: he's responsible for some great Prodigy albums, who is my #3 goat - but then if you compare those to what Hav did, it's a different level.

It wasn’t meant to be an understatement. It was meant to be facts. His highs aren’t of those legends but he also has only improved his craft and never fallen off like RZA :manny:

Alchemist makes consistent bangers. He doesn’t have classic albums like Gang Starr or the work RZA did with Wu-Tang obviously. What he has though is amazing production that he continues to put out while the other legends have completely lost touch or slowed down considerably.

Name some full produced albums that you would consider a miss for Al?

To me, that is dudes strength. Putting together a full album and providing that emotional range from beginning to end. I prefer that over producers who mainly just try to produce singles. Album cuts and bangers is the mark for me. Singles generally are for casual fans.

His peak isn’t on the level of Dr. Dre, DJ Premier, Pete Rock or RZA but his ability to continue, going on 25+ years, to pump out high quality beats is unmatched because I can’t think of any Producer ever who has this level of high quality work so late into a career. His production on this Larry June project is remarkable.

:banderas: Salute.
This is exactly why/how he's slid into the 3rd spot for my top 5 producers (Dilla, Madlib, Al, RZA, Premo)
