beckham was a great player in his prime, and when he was old people were paying for his namebrand :manny:
a great example today of paying for name, not player in soccer is iker casillas, dudes trash as a goalie today but still plays at real madrid because of his household name of when he was still great.

or in football, polamalu comes to mind

Casillas really fell the fukk off, didn't he? I don't even follow soccer like that and was shocked when folk told me he's a bum now.

:mjlol: white privilege

Bu bu its make or break every year for Killa Cam, RGIII , to an extent Geno this mf was a bum for YEARS but got chance after chance.

Hell watch Bradford get another chance Like Clausen still getting a pay check while man nvm :smh:

Why are dudes crying about 2nd string QBs? Clausen's name shouldn't even be here. I'll give you Bradford...but he was a 1st overall pick and had decent numbers last year so I undersand why the Rams would keep him. Not saying it's right but understandable.

Cam, RG3, Geno is some bullsh1t but that's just how it is. A lot of these white fans and reporters do not relate to black QBs. They do to white QBs so they give them a lot more rope. They remind them of their brothers, sons, friends, nephews, etc. When I read sh1t like "he's just such a good guy...you just wanna root for him" :mjpls: they don't say that sh1t about black players.

You're right, but Smith was given every opportunity and got pretty good situations at the end of his career. Remember, dude been in the league 9 years and was a starter most of those years. No QB gets that many opportunities.

Not saying VY is better. He isn't. But I wonder what he'd be like if he got 7+ years development of being "the guy". I think he would be better. I think damn near any QB would be better. Question is..would he/they be as good as Smith? Probably not but it's a possibility.

Most people dont get that many years to develop in this NFL... The only thing Average Smith has going for him is he doesnt turn the ball over..he is basically a game manager. The fact VY was never developed speaks more to the failure by his coaches to properly train him to be a QB from pop warner to HS to college ( this is my stance on many of the QB) now, there are so few really good/ great QB to begin with, so most QB no matter race...are really bad at being a QB...i think i got derailed but yeah Alex smith is barely shyt but VY...eeeeeeeeeeeeeh

but yeah i get ya point tho

Not today. Bad teams stay bad because they make dumb decisions. This was a dumb decision by the Chiefs. Secondly, if they're going to sign this guy to a lucrative deal, at least put some talent around him as he's a guy that needs a lot of things to go right in order to be above average.

The chiefs overachieved last year, now when they miss the playoffs this season people gonna say its some big disappointment when they never were that good in the first place

Thats Flabby Reid calling card....from year to year he decides he doesnt need certain positions on his team...for years he neglected WR's, Linebackers and didnt see a need to draft or sign highly talented safeties..he thinks football is only about the QB, CB and Dlinemen

so glad he is gone
