Doug Pederson, Kevin Kolb & Mike McMahon all had their best statistical production under Reid only to never be heard from again.
even this is not true at all
kevin kolb career in arizona has been significantly better statitically, than in philadelphia

doug pederson is a bum who had a horrible year and so did mike mcmahon

youre grasping at straws here

No. You thought Amerson was a safety and you didn't know about Perry Riley. You don't know shyt.

And you've been caping for Alex Smith for a while now. It's no secret.
I think alex smith is a serviceable and good enough qb in the league, you think hes garbage. clearly if you say hes trash Im going to refute that.
I never, EVER caped for him

the difference is you think qbs win games, and I think you can win the sb with a 'game manager' like chad pennington. and Id take a game manager like pennington over an erratic big armed dumb qb like late favre, stafford or cutler

But if you feel that way then what do you think about Kaep about to ge this big contract? Would you let him go so you can sign Matt Flynn and spend the rest of the money on defense and running game?

He IS garbage. A #1 pick who has underwhelming career numbers. Just like Bradford is garbage.

So someone who you don't even know about is considered trash? :beli: You clearly don't know what you're talking about.

I would let alex smith go if Im in KC, easily.
thats what yall fail to understand, Id boot his ass to the moon right away hed demand this much $

I actually AGREE with letting him go. its just Andy loves him and he won't. he traded those picks for alex to get him. I would never trade a boatload of picks for a player, not even brady, peyton or anyone else

underwhelming career numbers and status of #1 pick doesnt make him garbage, his last 3 seasons were GOOD seasons and perfectly good to win any football title there is.

bradford isnt garbage either

For better or worse, Alex Smith is an 8 year veteran who has basically been a starter for the vast majority of his career, he's smart, makes solid reads, and while he won't make that circus throw, he won't bury you with poor decisions. The defense, got exposed late in the season and in the playoffs. While I don't think Alex Smith is worth 18 milly, it doesn't matte, keeping him on the roster at least for the next 2 to 3 years is important to the long term success of the team. Everything else can be done though drafts and free agency.

But i'm asking what you think about Kaep about to get 18+ a year since you don't think qb's win games.

I thought you already knew the answer
yes
but matt flynn is utter garbage to the point he actually loses you games. signing a half-decent stopgap qb for 5-6m would work best imo

heres some of my quotes from the 49er thread re: kaep

as long as we can win with our defense, I see zero problems with this strategy of re-using qbs. when our d becomes ass, it would be time to think about direction and maybe change that.

this is all moot point tho, I think barring some huge FO rift, kaep finna get signed for 18+ long term...

why isnt it 'practical' ?
only because qb position is holy cow status for no real reason. no one ever thinks its impractical to do this to any other position :heh:

we made 3 nfcs and a sb with alex smith in a new offense, a 1st year starter with like 6 starts under his belt and a second year starter
the hags nearly made nfc game appearance last year with a rookie and then won it all with a second year player this year

as long as defense plays on the same level, we'll be always be in contention. and when it doesn't, no qb will help us.

yes you can play moneyball. and theres no such thing as 'long-term' in football, really. but if you want to take 5-8 years dominance....steelers and ravens were able to play relatively moneyball last several years, before giving big contracts to their qbs.
hell the only reason we were able to make it work last 3 years is EXACTLY because of moneyball- we had a marginal qb on our hands with whom we made a cut-friendly contract, groomed a cheap young qb, and hit on a lot of CHEAP free agents and draftees, especially on defense.

playing moneyball is exactly why were able to compete for the superbowl last 3 years. otherwise wed still have nate clements and possibly an overpaid good but not great qb on our hands, with not much to spend on defense, and wed be getting shat on by seattle every year.
