Ovi catching Gretzky in goals is an accomplishment but to think that this tarnishes 99s reputation is a joke. There's an argument that Gretzky is the goat of all goats in all major sports. He had five 200 points seasons. He leads the all time list in assists too shattering the 2nd place while playing 300 plus less games. His 85-86 season he had 215 points next up to Mario Lemieux who was 74 points behind. Think about how dominant that is. If there's ever a case for comparing eras it's when you compare a player to how much better they were than their peers. This rivals Wilt Chamberlains 61-62 season where he averaged 50 points but to top it all off Gretzky won the Stanley Cup 4 times including in that very dominant season.

Who is saying this tarnishes the reputation of Gretzky? I have not heard one single person say that it would, and I’m not even exaggerating by saying not one.:pachaha:.
