Watched ep 1 and 2 like an hour ago.

I thought this sh*t was dope and if you treat it as an anime (kids in robot bodies, aliens, "Blade Runner" style megacorporations, etc.) instead of some kinda serious golden age drama then it will click for you.

I do not even know why people expect this to be something more than entertaining sci-fi in the first place. I mean anything related to "Alien". The franchise has been ass since "Alien: Resurrection", let's be real here. "Alien vs Predator", "Prometheus"....quality-wise all that ranged from stupid and entertaining at best, to awful at worst.

This is actually the best (along with "Romulus") it's been in decades.

I like those movies, but I have always been more of a fan of the action sci-fi side of the Alien film series than the horror sci-fi side. So, this TV series is really cool with me.

Alien is one of my favorite franchises and even the bottom of the level films: Covenant, AVP:Requiem look like masterpieces compared to this much...

This is Star Trek Discovery levels of bad...

The 10 minute short films 20th Century Fox released for the Anniversary of Alien are leaps and bounds better than this...

Finally watched this….. definitely kind of a slow burn.

thought it was respectably “straight“

Like I don’t think it’s terrible or mid or bad by any means….. but I don’t think it’s great this far……

definitely need to see more….. I may pause on this a little just to let some weeks pass so I can binge it.

I don't know why people act as if this sh*t is supposed to be "The Wire" with xenomorphs.

An especially odd gripe is the "plot armor" one. Ripley was a 150 lb woman going toe to toe with these things while marines, hardened convicts, etc. were getting wiped out.

And even when she died, they brought her back. I haven't seen anything remotely in the ballpark of her plot armor in this so far.

She barely survived the first encounter and nearly got sucked out the airlock.

Aliens she was hellbent on revenge for the Xeno taking everything from her, which was her career, her daughter, her friends, her sanity. Her picking up a pulse rifle was light work for Ripley. When she was about to lose her adoptive daughter, nothing was safe on that planet..

Alien 3 wasn't plot armor, she was implanted with the chestburster which gave her a pass until she dumped two tons of hot lead on the Dragon which almost signed her death warrant.

A4...I think Sigourney gave the okay to that since she got 20 mill and producer credits to return.

These people are barely surviving too yet it's called plot armor.

I don't mind plot armor as long as it's not too obvious but Ripley in the first 4 movies is the definition of plot armor.

Ash in the "Evil Dead" franchise is also one of the biggest recipients of plot armor but again, it's entertaining so nobody cares.

They use them to reproduce.

As far as I know, that's it. I don't recall then ever eating a human so I don't know where that came from, maybe the novels or comics. I don't know what out of all that is considered canon any more.

They only use semi conscious humans to reproduce if they have queen nearby. They were engineered to be the perfect killing organism. They kill everything moving.

What is going on here? There are a bunch of people on r/television hating on this show hard, going as far as saying "If you like this show, you must not anything about the Alien movies, blah blah blah" (which is BS) Even the r/LV426 reddit isn't hating this hard. Personally, I think these people just don't understand movie and television storytelling has to be handled differently.

Just finished watching the first two episodes. It's the first two episodes of a new series so I'll see where this goes, they got my attention






Star Trek SNW and Alien Earth on TV at the same time, alien/space themed sci fi media is one of my favorite types of entertainment so this is a time for me.
