Ya'll...I really tried with this show. I really enjoyed the first 5 eps and ep 5 thought they really started having so many dumb decisions, and I feel like each episode everyone just got dumber and dumber, and that finale is one of the dumbest hours of TV I've ever watched.

I'll tune in for Season 2 Day One because I love this franchise and I apparently hate myself, but god damn that as stupid af :dead:

I don't even know where to start. I can't believe they turned the Xeno fully into Wendy's pet dog. :mjcry:

Kirsh I thought had something dope up his sleeve or a good story arc coming and then he just got his back broken and did nothing? :mjcry:

I thought Kirsh was gonna be this mastermind with a grand scheme and an ace up his sleeve or something, and he just got his back broken and laid around and got thrown in the cell with everyone else? ugh. So much of a let down for him. Morrow as well. He was so cunning and his story arc also just went nowhere. Why was Boy Kav in the final scene asking the bald synthetic to do something to Wendy??? Like, he wouldn't have been in the cage if he could've done anything to Wendy.

I also despise how they just made Wendy magically be able to control everything on the island. That's thew most deus ex machina shyt ever.

At best, at best...this felt like an episode that should happen right before the season finale.

So many unresolved arcs, narrative drops, unanswered questions, and stupid decisions.

As far as season finales go? That might be one of the weakest ones I've ever seen. It wasn't like "so bad it's good" bad, either. Dexter and some other shows have had hilariously bad season finales that were fun to watch.

This finale is the textbook definition of mid. Just a tepid bubble bath. A room temp hot tub. Super uninspired and average.

There was a really good season that could've been made here and it was squandered.

Who would’ve thought in 1991 after the releases of alien, t1, aliens, predator, and t2…predicting 30+ years into the future…that in 2025 Predator would be the franchise of those 3 standing with the freshest ideas and the most promise?

edit: Obviously not counting AVP movies. I'm talking stuff from the past 5-10 years. Predator is in the best position right now.

yeah I guess :patrice:

Predators 2010 and Prey were pretty good , predator of predators and alien vs predator was okay

Prey was largely acclaimed by critics and fans, and Killer of Killers was received very well also.

The Predator franchise is 2 for 2 of their last ones.

Not counting any crossovers here, so forget both AVP movies. They both were forever ago as well. I'm basing this off releases the past 5-10 years.

Alien and Terminator franchises wish they had made anything as creative as Prey (94 on RT) or Killer of Killers (95 on RT)

EDIT: Romulus was great and well received, but Alien franchise dropped a notch after this season of the show

"The power scaling of the xeno doesn’t make any sense. Morrow, pretty easily, subdues one in episode 2. By episode 8, the xeno is basically invincible. It smokes dozens of highly trained soldiers. Did no one communicate to them to stun the xeno rather shoot it? How powerful is the xeno? As powerful as the showrunners need it to be!"

I forgot all about the stun weapons. They dropped the xeno right away in episode 1/2. Why not use that on them on the island? Or, you know..bullets kill them too. That was crazy. Vasquez domed one in Aliens with half a clip from a pistol.

They implied early on that Wendy was able to control things by using devices to find her brother wherever he happened to be. The scientists kind of shrugged it off, and didn’t realize HOW much control she had.

The rest we gotta chalk up to them deciding to make it more than one season. It probably would have been a near perfect run if it was condensed to a one shot story

Slow start in eps 1-2. Then 3-6 were really looking promising with where they could possibly take this. 7 and 8 tore all of it down though. Huge letdown.

Wendy all of a sudden mind controlling the whole facility. Kirsh AND Morrow going out sadder than sad and flushing their whole character arcs. The eye occupying a dead host, (did not know that was possible but I can get past it) and a completely uninteresting character at that.

I thought there was a way to make this intriguing going forward even after episode 7 and now I feel like there was a misstep at every turn in episode 8.

Bro, you know how unexciting is to just have an all-powerful God for a main character? She controls the xenos. She controls the whole island. She can do magic now. She can freeze other robots in place. She can hack everything on the island with a wave of the hand.

It's frustrating because they could've had some creative ways to write them out of some trouble in the finale, but they just made Wendy an all powerful God mode. It felt like they were plugging in cheat codes to finish the game.

BTW I've been super fair to this show and I never really dunked on it until tonight. I enjoyed the entire season and every episode until this finale. I thought episodes 5/6/7 had a lot of dumb decisions by characters, but if you look anywhere online right now, the consensus in the Alien fandom across the board is that this finale was a huge let down.

BTW they were not guaranteed a season 2, and when you're in that position, you always gtta write your seasons hoping that they can be narratively satisfying if they don't get picked up for an additional season.

It's lazy writing to not even attempt to write your show a satisfying conclusion.

Really fukking hope they explain how Wendy has all these magical powers.
They don't have an explanation breh. Hate to say it. They needed a lot of things to move the plot forward, and apparently they decided the best way to make things conclude faster and more efficiently was to just have her able to do a bunch of magical deus ex machina stuff.
