My take on the Tanzania position is that it is their country, their rules. Their desire to protect their citizens from foreigners coming in and disrupting the economic prospects of their own people is perfectly fine to me. They feel an obligation to their own citizens first as the leaders of that nation.

I also don't expect American based Pan Africanist to speak up on this, because Pan Africanist have peddled an image of Africa that is a false one. They have sought to make it seem like the continent is united by culture and ideologies, and that is categorically false. To maintain that false image, they have to act like all of the contention going on over there between the peoples is caused by an outside force, which is another mischaracterization of the present and history of the peoples in Africa.

So no, they will mostly remain relatively silent about these sort of policies being enacted, just like they remain silent about the xenophobia that occurs between different nations on the African Continent and even the Caribbean. They seem to reserve most of the finger wagging for Black Americans here in the US. Their hustle for donations is here in the US, pushing an image of African Unity that does not exist in reality.

i agree with some of what she says. the aspect of the US gov recognizing slavery lineage is mandatory. righting institutional and financial wrongs against black folks is mandatory.

frustrating to see immigration prioritized while black americans are given the cold shoulder. told we should have compassion. all while being told we should go back where we came from if we don't like american values...or told we're not real americans.

white american values and culture are not the same as black american values and culture. it's even different from north to south and east to west.

her loose definition of culture and use of assimilation is problematic. all of that is used against black americans to say we're not real americans. she's on a very slippery slope...
