Random people began showing up at a home in Houston on Saturday morning, a fight broke out and seven people eventually were shot.
The "instant house party" began through the mobile app Snapchat, and then more and more people received the invite to the east Houston house. There were between 30-50 people at the party, which included a mix of adults and teenagers, according to Houston PD detective Sean Ragsdale in this
KHOU report.
"It was just a random group of people receiving an invite (on the app)," Ragsdale said.
Once at the party, several people got into an argument, and multiple people began shooting at each other. Three people were shot at the home. One vehicle fled the scene, and it was chased by a group of people in an SUV.
The chase went down Interstate-10, also known as the East Freeway in Houston. Shots were fired from the SUV toward the car it was chasing, according to the report. Three people inside the car were struck by gunfire, and they stopped at a gas station to call for help.
Police later learned that a seventh person had also gone to the hospital after being shot in the hand.
None of the people shot had life-threatening injuries, according to KHOU.
Carlos Ramirez, who lives near the house that hosted the party, said he heard roughly 20 shots,
according to KPRC in Houston.
"I heard this lady crying, yelling on her phone," Ramirez said. "I peeked and looked after the gunshots and everything, and I told her to come inside and wash your hands because you don't know if they people are still out there and stuff."
Houston PD states they first received a call about the incident around 1:45 a.m. local time Saturday. HPD said it is also looking for as many as three people connected to the case, and that a newer-model SUV with tan colors is also sought in the investigation.
Local Crime Stoppers in Harris County also seeks information, and they listed 713-222-8477 for anyone who can anonymously report to them.
Snapchat is popular app available on mobile devices that promises shared photos and videos will disappear once they have been seen seen. The app also gives geographic location.
More information on this case will be published as it becomes available.
