It's been a lot of threads on the best/favorite rap albums of the year. Mine are :
Kings Disease Self Explanatory
A written testimony Self Explantory
Royce-the allegory. A rappers rapper who made a dope album.
Descendants of Cain Never heard of dude until like 2 months ago. Phenomenal lyricist using the frame work of the biblical Cain story to speak on growing up (in Brownsville I think). and generational trauma. Production crazy too.
Thank you for using GTL: Recorded over a jailhouse phone, where he facing multiple charges where they're using his lyrics as evidence. On the album he speaks on that and lot of stuff. Good Album.
What ya'll feeling outside of rap?
Rap is my number one genre, but I like all music except for country. What non rap albums ya'll feeling in 2020? These are mine:
A really different A keys album with different writing/production styles. An album about pleasing self and not projecting an image for others. Favorite song changes a lot, right now it's Jill Scott featuring Jill Scott.
Another creative album from a super creative artist. It's damn near a country album beause he puts a twang in his voice, but it's riding. Highlights are lead me, little mama, and people watching.
Dope Jazz album. I'm a jazz newbie, so i cant say much more than I like it.
Jeff Parker Suite for Max Brown...like a jam session. Incredible album.
Fionna Apple-Fetch the bolt cutters. This album is crazy. I dont know how to categorize it, I like it a lot. I never listened to her before, but I'm feeling this. It's raw emotionally and production wise.
Lianne La Havas-Self Titled. Good album, but her last one was incredible.
Good Modern gospel album with a couple skips.
The booth really helped me this year putting me on to rap albums/artist I'd never heard of (mainly KA and Larry) June). What non rap ya'll banging?
