215 Uptown!
The whole city is behind meek. He kinda been the "official" dude since like 09. Or whenever "In My Bag" dropped

The thing with philly is we have TONS of rappers who can rap they ass off. But NONE of them can make a splash commericaly(Look at reed. 5 years and counting) But Meek pulled ahead of those nikkas cause he has what it takes to make a SONG and not just a mixtape track.

Lyrically? Quilly and Jihad are better. But pound for pound Meek is the most complete artist Philly had since Beans/Freeway

What's the story with Philly's Most Wanted???

what do you mean?

:lolbron:

I admit I should have added Tommy and Ram Squad to the list

My people are even good with him...straight oversight on my part

Its slightly disrespectful not to give then their props for setting the city
On fire for a hot minute in the 90s

However I also didn't mention the Tough Crew and they did similar things
But Much bigger & better in the late 80s-90s

"My Part Of Town/So damn Tough" was on repeat every summer from 88-93

I bet most nikkas couldn't name a Ram track off the top so.....

tuff crew never sat on the throne tho.

:what: @ the bolded.

The thing is that this just doesn't set Meek apart in Philly it sets him apart in the whole rap industry.

yep. he blew past most of the rap game with the snap of a finger.

When this happen? Is there footage of this?

all-star weekend 2002 on south street.

no footage but :birdman: was there.

theres no such thing as a mixtape track. either you can make songs or you cant. and they can indeed make songs. meek is just better at making radio songs. if youre not good at making radio songs, that doesnt mean that you cant make tracks. this is where hip-hop officially fell off. when those lines got blurred. i saw it.

lets be real, joey & meek is a tossup. and quilly is better than both. and theres others that are in the same boat with all of them OR BETTER.

yea. they were huge. right at the forefront of the late 90s/early 00s philly era with beanie, figgas, eve, etc.

nobody says it anymore, but i remember the word was that they were supposed to sign with the roc along with beans and the figgas.

they live in atlanta and/or virginia or something now. somebody on the other site said that one of them is doing music with tommy hilfiger's son.

After growing up listening to guys like the legend in your avi its hard for me to get excited for these new cats man. It's like we're going backwards.

:wow:

the bar for lyricism has went wayyyy down

i mean they are nicer guys from philly like state prop and black thought

:deadhorse:

Times change, get the fukk over it and move on. Either listen to all your old music or enjoy what you have now... Stop complaining.

South Philly...all day everyday!
I've said this in another thread, but I still want others to have Meeks shine.

Noone will ever get me to believe that with a knowledgeable producer, and someone to teach them to count bars and construct a song, people like Jihad, Quilly and some others couldn't pump out national hits.

I forgot about Reign Man...he's, to me, probably the best spitter in Philly.

I fukks with Meek but I don't wanna always wanna hear some club/party appealing song. Alot of times when I really feel like hearing my city's shyt, I go to youtube or dust off the old mixtapes. Im into that hardcore shyt anyway....I fukks with Ape Gang...and AR-AB is NICE

Said it once and I'll day it again. Philly has done of the best talent in the game. If someone was to teach some of these rappers to construct songs and stay away from the street life, they would have the game on lock.

I miss Philly.... Damn
