All New 2019 Mercedes CLS finally revealed . is it better than the Audi A7

I called it 2 weeks ago in this thread. Both pieces of news.
Knew this was coming. shyt just didn't make sense to have both without renaming the CLS to the CLE. Giving it the S designation (according to Mercedes new naming scheme) would price it up there with the AMG GT 4 door. Which doesnt make sense. And pricing it any lower would eat into the sales of the AMG GT .

Internet shyt for the most part. You're exactly right if you get a car like this it's mainly for parking lot pimping and looking good. Online though everybody is a weekend track guy please. If you do cool but I don't think most people really are doing that honestly so I agree the talk is silly. As long as the car isn't getting smoked merging onto the highway you good for what most are doing driving wise.

True on both points. Mercedes doesn't need to put a V8 in everything they make after all. With a little bit of boost, engines are doing with 6 cylinders now what it took 8 to do 10-15 years ago. And outside of Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce, the V12 is dead.

AMG (with the 2 digit designation) = hand built engine, always and forever. These 43, 45, 53s with tuned run of the mill Mercedes engines are all fugazy and marketing. Trading off the legendary name plate.

And of course eventually Mercedes is going to move all the AMG engineering upstream to the new brand starting with the AMG GT and soon the AMG 4 door coupe. So expect even the 55,63,65 to soon become fugazy.

Mercedes is getting greedy with all of these fukking mid tier “AMG” variants. There was a time you’d be able to get an AMG kit or a BMW M-sport kit and that was that and it was almost seen as a middle child version beteeen the regular car and the performance car.

Now a shytty ass CLA gets to be an AMG along with the entire Model range (probably the Sprinters and the trucks too LOL)

Just doesn’t feel exclusive anymore unless you take that shyt to a tuner and have them run wild with the aftermarket shyt.

Whatever the case, outside of the S class (coupe or sedan) and a wild ass black Series C class, the AMG line up is meh. There was a day when the only AMGs were either a 63 or a 55 (and 65) and you knew it immediately when you saw it.

They fukked up both cars tho. Audi is overstyling the same damn designs over and over again and going overboard with the tech while Mercedes has the damn CLS looking like a fukkin striped bass and will NEVER eclipse the OG CLS. Even no the OG CLS was riding on an aging E Class platform with the same dash/console, it was a wavy ass car despite the “coupe” designation
