Who's he influenced?
nikkas always try to act like Wayne made some epic impact on Hip Hop. Who has he influenced? What has he contributed to the scene?
He's a decent artist but he's overhyped
Those ppl were in the hood??I always saw Wayne have a big backslash during his run, a lot of people really hated him, I never was one of those personally, as I could at least respect his talent and that he was different in terms of energy, delivery, flow, inflections etc. My problem was so many songs and his ratio that I felt them wasn't that great, felt kind of rushed sometimes, but I like a bunch of Wayne shyt, even shyt like This Is The Carter. Wayne had his fan base that liked him, then he had a bunch of others who hated his guts lol. I was in the middle camp lol, no hate, liked some of his songs, didn't like a lot of them too. He's got enough good shyt to be somewhere on a list most probably, but there's no way I can see him in the upper echelons of a greatest lists from my perspective at least, but anyone who thinks so it's all good.

Cuz nobody in the hood hated that nikka wayne
Wayne was that nikka
Wayne's mixtapes were talked about more than most nikkaz albums
Wayne was loved and the belief of him being the best rapper alive was very popular at that time
alot of hood niccas dont like wayne.
alot love him. alot are neutral.
hes mostly king chit amongst younger cats tho. aint too many wayne fanatics in his age group & older. thats says alot about an artist.
Im not talking now Im talkin his prime
In his prime the hood fcked wit wayne heavy
Sht I remember maad nikkaz who picked up da flag jus cuz they stanned wayne dat hard
Wayne was gettin serious love out hea man
No I dnt live in the south
get off that mans dikkAll I know is that I'll put him above that lost fakkit naus.
Tha Carter II>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.doo doo matic
Now that I think about it, little wayne's catalog>>>>>>>>lost fakkit naus' catalog.

yea, and that isnt a good thingI mean he has birthed most of these rappers these days and that speaks for itself.

OP asked where wayne ranks ALL-TIME.
not just the past 10 years.
I am the OP homie.
And if an artist has had a presence for ten years it means he's at least worth discussing where he'd be on the all-time list. Doesn't matter if those ten years were the 80s, 90s or 00s.
I agree with you on this point. And when I go back and listen to some of his mixtapes, a lot of his subject matter really is kind of amateur. Definitely a talented rapper, but not very adult oriented. Playing a song talking about shyt and eating p*ssy all the time isn't a good look for guys his age or older (I'm 21, so Wayne was on his come-up when I was a high school student, which may explain why I like him as much as I do).
like when kanye dropped that wack freestyle at the awards, and then dropped the mic like he spit some rakim/kool g rap chit.thats already understood.
the point i was making was if thats all dude is hanging his hat on, then he shouldnt be surprised that wayne doesnt rank on most of the voters' lists.
not just that but he wasnt really spitting on a high level like people claimed. everything he did, was being done alot better by others at the time. he had a winning formula tho. he took the whole punchline/metaphor style & made it commercially accessible. he made his verses easy for everybody to follow, instead of just the serious hip-hop heads. he made the style more accessible to young buls, casuals, bamas, females, outsiders, etc etc. and then he flooded the market with it. i cant knock the hustle tho. it was smart. but i know who he is at the end of the day.
and he mastered the art of grand-standing. saying absolutely nothing but making it seem like youre saying something monumental. that chit is commonplace now. cant deny his influence.like when kanye dropped that wack freestyle at the awards, and then dropped the mic like he spit some rakim/kool g rap chit.

Word. If we're keeping it real I think Lloyd Banks is a better pure punchline rapper than Wayne.![]()
and a better all-around emcee as well. same with alot of people. i think wayne is a better artist than banks tho. clearly.
wayne never really impressed me all like that lyrically, during his mixtape days, aside from carter 1 - until i realized gillie wrote alot of it after a few listens. i think wayne's best lyrical days were circa '00-01 before the hype.
