I understand the issue with lack of people wanting to work on farms but from my experience, construction is different. Black people can’t get on a construction job unless they’re a certified electrician, truck driver or management in a technical area like myself. They’re not hiring black people as laborers, carpenters etc and being a labor guy isn’t necessarily hard work depending on the job.

Companies also hire illegals not only so they can pay them under the table but it also reduces the likelihood of someone filling a workers comp claim or paying for work related injuries.

Thanks for that insight. I think some posters don't seem to understand that if those companies need workers they will have to turn to citizens and they will be more apt to labor organizing which is some of the leverage you need to make those jobs desirable and pay enough to actually live a stable life in this country.

You’re not gonna find 300 white or black people to do that in a timely fashion. That being said there should be a clear incentive for black men to get qualified to do these jobs and learn these skills. Whether that actually happens…I doubt it.

I've said that if they were serious about it, there would be harsh penalties for those that HIRE THEM at the upper levels - ie, management/CEO even owners of the company. 5 years minimum in prison and heavy fines (not symbolic ones, but company crippling ones). That would clean up a lot of it. You don't see that because these people use immigration as a political issue, as opposed to something they really want to stop considering how many companies depend on them. Trump and numerous other Republicans have been caught hiring undocumented workers. But people always fall for the okee doke.
