Ravens

That 2000 Defense plus Lamar and Henry :banderas: They going to be thin at WR but with Ogden blocking for them Lamar will have plenty of time

What's wrong with Priest Holmes & Jamal Lewis?

Henry is kinda recency bias....

Derrick Mason, Anquon Boldin and Steve Smith with the physicality and aggression could find a way to hang in any era....

Throw in Torrey Smith to take the top off.....

Ravens better off than y'all think....

I respect the players of generations ago, but how on earth are people saying the Packers? Probably more than half of the players being mentioned were born before 1940 and played before (and after) the merger.

They are not holding a candle to the 49er's for this thread. I don't see where it's really debatable with those two teams. I think the 49er's are multiple tiers above.
I'm looking at it in terms of "relativity." So an All-Pro HOFer from 1962 is judged by how dominant he was in his era versus an All-Pro HOFer in 1992 or 2012 etc. That way it gives balance to legacy versus modern times.

Otherwise it would just be based on the best franchises in the last 20-25 years. Patriots are a good example where if you just judge off the Brady/Belichick years....they rate at the top....but if you expand and look at their whole history, they're not on the level of other franchises when you factor in depth of talent over many decades.

Yeah, it's them and I don't really see the argument against them. You have arguably the two greatest WR's in NFL history along with a QB that was considered the GOAT until Brady came along, and their second string QB is a two time NFL MVP. :pachaha: .
Their OL is good, but Dallas has a better line plus better RBs (Emmitt/Dorsett/Zeke/Herschel).

Aikman and Staubach are closer to Montana/Young than any Niners RB is to the Cowboys stable.

WR?

Jerry >>> everyone else

But Jerry & T.O. versus Irvin, Pearson, Bob Hayes, CeeDee and Dez??? Also Dallas gets T.O. too so that's a wash.

Witten >> any Niners TE and we aren't including Novacek or Ditka; Ditka being HOF

I'm not saying they'd be the best, but I think the Buccaneers can be up there too. They don't have the best WR's, but Evans/Jackson/Galloway/Godwin isn't terrible.

And, they have an absurd defensive-line with Sapp, Rice, McCoy, and Selmon. Then they have Brooks/David/Nickerson at LB with Barber and Lynch in the secondary.

That front seven in absurd.
Since Brady played 3 years with Tampa, y'all get the older version of him.

Imagine the 90s/early 00s Bucs defense + Brady + Evans + Warrick Dunn/Mike Alstott.....

Honestly that team would be a tough matchup.

Lowkey the Rams

Good luck blocking the fearsome foursome and Aaron Donald. Night train Lane clotheslin' mfs in the secondary.

Prime Kurt Warner...Then you got dikkerson/Faulk/Gurley behind that GSOT line with Pace. Cupp and Iassac Bruce.
Colts vs Rams is a sleeper all time Superbowl pick

I’m gonna go with the ravens of course. Imagine the modern day offense with Ogden, Birk, and Yanda on the line with a defense that has Ray, Ed, Woodson, McAllister, Ngata, Scott, Suggs, Pryce, & Hamilton with Billick, Rex, Marvin Lewis, & Monken coaching both sides of the ball. That team isn’t losing.

Low key the rams have a great one. Basically the greatest show on turf era teams but with Aaron Donald in place of one of the defensive tackles along with Deacon jones and night train lane.
