I was thinking about it the other day Houston was a lot like an earlier version of Brandon Roy with a better jumper. Wasnt the most athletic player in his prime but he got buckets.
Don't let the video in the OP fool you.

Roy was a better player overall. The problem with Allan Houston was that the Knicks made a mistake to gamble on him to be the leader of the franchise...if they had a dominant down low presence with him and spreewell they could have gone to the finals another time easily. Hell, they did it with Marcus Camby....

The New York Knicks :snoop:

I didnt even watch the OP video. I been a Knicks fan for over 20 years. Allan Houston was set to be the leader of that team during the twilight of Ewing's career but injuries fukked that up. And Camby came off the bench during that 99 finals run Ewing, LJ, and Kurt were the main big man rotation. Camby only started in the playoffs because of injuries. Had the Knicks been healthy I truly believe they would have beat the Spurs.

Allan Houston got surpremely overpaid by NYK. Just like when Ben Wallace got overpaid by Chicago, Bill Davidson was on his :mjpls:

Allan Houston leaving to New York was one of my first etherial moments as a kid in the D.

No one speaks on the potential that could have been Grant Hill and Allan Houston in Detroit.

see, there's NO reason for allan houston to be going nuts on the lakers like that? :childplease: was only around 24 that season. once houston started going HAM, he should have guarded him instead of spree. this was back when bean was a ridiculous defender too.

i think that was 2 years later. Stackhouse is a #2 who thinks he's a #1 and when you have G Hill thats unacceptable. Hill and Houston had minimal egos and were just blossoming together. There was no way Cheap Bill Davidson was going to pay both big $.

Kobe would've gotten lit up too; nobody wants that switch at that point. Once Houston (or a shooter at that level, the rare ones) gets going like that there's no defense short of keeping him from getting the ball that's going to bother his shot.

I became a fan of his in that crucial game of the '99 Eastern conference Finals against the Pacers where he scored 32 pts I think.
but one thing that used to piss me with his game is that dude would just NEVER DUNK, always going for the easy layup evn on fast breaks. I dare anyone to find one in-game dunk of his on youtube.
Oh he also embarassed himself in the dunk contest when he was still with the Pistons I believe. shyt was like WTF was that did he just attempt
