Seriously though, if Goku did not exist, Dragon Ball would just be about Krillin fusing the martial arts from his monastery and Roshi's style. He'd probably travel the world fighting different martial artists and becoming stronger and adapting elements from their style into his own until he met and fought evil king Picolo. Picolo after dividing himself would become friendly with krillin but also see him as a rival. Not unlike the relationship between Naruto and Sasuke. Before going off to fight Raditz, Krillin would give the instruction to bulma to find the dragon balls and wish him back if he doesn't return.
Krillin would get murked by raditz after putting up a valiant fight, and picolo would get defeated by raditz. Earth would belong to frieza and Picolo would be one of Frieza's goons and works directly under raditz. Raditz gets to be the "administrator" of earth while freeza is off in space trying to expand his empire. Krillin gets wished back after 5 years. Toughened by years of training with one or more of the kais. When he arrives picolo turns on Raditz and the two of them proceed to give Raditz that work. They learn about freeza and they travel the galaxy hunting him down and freeing planets and making new allies along the way. Eventually they run into a few saiyans that join the cause, apparently some had learned the truth about their planet and were waiting for someone they could believe in--someone with the potential to actually beat frieza to side with.
