Because Chris and Snoop, if you came after him, you would have to deal with they ass

He killed prop to be the connect, Bodie ain’t snitch but he ain’t like how Marlo was moving, he like dude put damn near everyone in a row house based off of a whiff of something perceived as wrong, he was like where’s the loyalty to your workers

D’angelo was getting tired of carrying the water for the family and wanted out the life, nothing wrong with that, Bell though snake like, he had his reasons, he was trying to legitimize them, and Avon was too concerned with trying to be the man, and he was snake like too

Cutty knew he wasn’t cut out for being a hitter anymore

Marlo was meant to represent the new wave of youngins who ain’t give af about the rules and were beyond paranoid, he took over quickly quietly and ruthlessly. He was ahead of his old heads in how they moved as far as being stuck in they old ways

Avon WAS the man

The 1 knock against the shows greatness is how well they wrote Avon originally, more believable drug lord, then just to basically make the character have flaws to prop up a new up comer

Its easy not to like Marlo as much as Avon because they did get a great job telling the Barksdale story and how they became to be, where as Marlo just popped up outta no where with little push back putting Baltimore biggest gangsters in fear.

As you get older and see more life and experience more, youll see that Marlo and Chris were not well written characters on an otherwise great show

he wasn’t killing people out in the open at all. He was getting people killed for months to years without anybody knowing and took over

he had to kill prop joe. He wanted to be the leader of the streets, he would never get the connect with joe being around and the Greeks gave him the ok to do it when he went to the meeting with them. And he couldn’t let joe live cause joe was smart and woulda been a pain in the house down the line

:gucci: @ this being dapped by @PropJoe

Marlo was well written, it showed how there is a power grab when a kingpin goes down, he saw Avon was weak and started putting in work

Avon was the man, and he was still worried about being the man on the streets his biggest downfall

Marlo was a great character. I dont think they were going for likable. Avon was likable-Marlo was more Machiavellin-cold blooded type.

Marlo was beyond a gangster (like Avon, etc.). He was a psychopath. He was also wildly insecure and short-sided. He was really smart but he wanted something (to be a getto hero) that could be gone in a summer or two. Also, remember when he shot that chick outside her crib like he was hurt?

He wasnt like Stringer or Prop Joe-they wanted long term success and calmness-he was like Atila the Hun-he wanted to kill and destroy.

Disagree

You right about the Barksdale organization.

But young reckless nikkas take over all the time. The show was highlighting how there is ALWAYS a more ruthless person waiting in the wing for their time to run shyt.

he definitely wasn’t hurt by ole girl. He didn’t give a fukk about here. The purpose of showing him killing her in that scene was to show he get busy and not just a call the shots guy like say a prop joe.

he found out she was sent and wanted to send a message to Avon that he wasn’t going for none of it

Two, there’s no way in fukk the other dealers in Baltimore would let some 23 year old kid come to the round table like Marlo did talking about the brick just doubled. With only three, four people for muscle. Lol. They would’ve took him out and quick.

Not only that but the scene where he told them to shut the fukk up and they complied. :skip: I've been saying from day one I don't care how big Marlo was in the streets, I'm sure they didn't get as far as they did to just let some dude less than half their age talk to them like that.

But he was hurt. He always sends shooters. Why pull the trigger this time on a girl?

Season 3 he was still on the front lines. He hasn’t elevated to where he was in season 4 and 5.

so he was still putting in some work, by season 4 and 5 his opps outside of Omar was dead and he didn’t need to front line

The Evils of Men
and Marlo's ruthlessness kept the other dudes at bay but also he was the only connection to the Greeks so harming him would harm their future business
