real shyt tho, im from uptown, and before katrina i couldnt tell u how downtown and the east looked, and didnt know much about cross the river, shyt is literally like 5-10 mintues away but people usually stick to they area, its gotten better tho since katrina mainly cause people was displaced and aint living where they use to live so u have a reason to go to other parts of the city
but yea its always a lot going on, but if u a tourist u gon think burbon is what new orleans has to offer and it couldnt be further from the truth, thats mainly the white people area, its crazy to here people shytting on new orleans, one of the most black cultured cities in america
Real New Orleans black folks don't really mess with no white spots. Us transplant and suburban nikkas don't really give a fukk. I think that's the mine reason some of my friends be shocked when I take em somewhere new. They be like damn son I ain't never even thought about going in that place.
I love my mid city spot way the fukk away from Broad
(even though I get my hair cut and fukk with some food spots over there). I'm trapped because my rent is $500 lower than the place next door 
. So until I move to another city or buy a house here I'm parking my ass right here. I just hope my landlord doesn't die 
.But hating on New Orleans is crazy, yea Bourbon Street smells like shyt, its Bourbon Street. I'm rarely in the quarter, but I do fukk with Fenchmen St, a few uppity martini bars, Crescent City Brewhouse and The Joint (best BBQ ever). The quarter is great for a Tourist though. You won't see that shyt anywhere else in America. Hell even some of you locals need to learn to do some tourist shyt on your city from time to time. Sunday around Jackson Square is lovely if you caked up.
