Brehs should get on this. I'm always getting mails from their recruiters.
It's a very toxic place but might be worth it with that money and experience gained though
This. If for nothing else then to have a year or so of experience and their name on my résumé. I’m already at a pretty world renowned place now and collecting contacts and credentials like Pokémon cards actually means something for career building.

There should be no cap.

Anyone who is at the level to make $350,000 at Amazon is probably worth $1 million at a large financial firm, PE, or a bank. Straight up.
This only means the black 6 cert brehs will have to settle for Amazon positions because those companies you mentioned ain’t hiring black folk even tho we are qualified :francis:

So the max is previously 160k? That doesn't seem right.

Or am i reading it wrong?

Cap on base salary, but most white collar folks get salary, bonus, & stock.

This announcement isn't going to change anything for the other tech companies, I doubt any of the other ones had such a low cap on base salary (relatively low for tech roles). Amazon could get away with this because their stock price stayed high and was stable. Facebook stock crash probably spooked them into do ing this and I dont blame them.

Seeing the salaries for Amazon new hires on levels.fyi and Non-execs having more of their year pay tied to stock vs base salary is wild, IMO.

capping c-suite salaries mean nothing when they can simply provide them compensation in the form of stock options, which is actually better since they are taxed at a lower rate (capital gains tax) vs salary (federal income tax) when they sell those shares.

Hardly any companies grant options anymore. They grant RSUs, and those get taxed as income (fed, state, soc, medicare) before it hits your brokerage account. So if you supposed to get a distribution of 1000 shares, you'll end up with 650 after the transaction is settled.

If you hold those RSUs for a year and sell, then those gains are taxed at the capital gains rate.

Of course, we have a defeatist crab in this thread spreading bad energy and defeat. There are black folks at those firms. there is even one or two that post here.
