When you factor in what advertisers pay to show you those ads, amazon prime is INSANELY profitable. That is why Amazon begin going into live sports, and putting it on amazon prime, because the money advertisers pay to show you a tylenol add is more than what amazon paid the nfl to show nfl games.
Yup, on top of the selling of users metadata.

It's like waiters and waitresses that make 2.50 cent checks but can take home hundreds a night.

On paper it would look like they are losing, but in reality they are making a killing.

I've been working in the home cable/internet market for a number of years now. My folks STILL have AT&T DSL/Cable(Satellite). I be about ready to cuss them out everytime they bring it up.

"Well, it just works most of the time"

Man if you don't let me save y'all 100 a month.

Never paid for the thing, I don't buy enough garbage there to justify it and when I do is usually enough for free shipping.

Almost 200 bucks is hilarious.

It seems much like gamepass, Amazon Prime is unsustainable and they are forced to raise the price again.
:sadcam:

Over half the households in country a borderline 60% have Amazon Prime. Their problem is that they've penetrated so deeply how do they make more money now? It' the same problem Netflix ran into. So many people had it or were stealing it how do they grow. My parents for example don't have Prime and they just have me buy stuff on my account for them so they get the benefit of it.

Game Pass wishes it had Prime's issues.

Because it's not making money. It's a loss leader they're looking to eat into the losses on. No way in hell does next day shipping at that level work out as profitable.

Honestly I barely watch Amazon Prime Video I have Prime for the shipping. I can order something at 4PM today and get it before 4PM the next day. I don't even need to go to the store to get most things. I also get 5% back on everything I purchase from them on their Visa card and it more than pays for my Prime annual membership.

I don't care that it loses them money. That's their problem.

Anyone complaining about the price of Amazon Prime is doing it wrong. I effectively do not pay for Prime at all. They could raise the price of the base membership to $200 and I'd mostly be in the clear.

Everyone could have had gamepass for free for multiple years also with things like this, but you still had a lot to say about that.

Even now there are a ton of ways to get months of game pass free or heavily discounted...

Your biases is showing:manny:

What I had to say was without Gold conversion Game Pass wasn't worth paying rack rate for. I stuck up for Gold conversion and they nerfed it.

I would argue that Amazon Prime's benefit to Amazon is impulse purchasing and can't be fully measured with a P&L statement. I go out of my way to shop on Amazon because of Prime and they get more purchases from me than they would without it.

The difference here is I don't care if Amazon Prime does well. The company itself is doing great and will keep the service going as a loss leader indefinitely and it's benefits outweigh it's cost.

Game Pass is ultimately something that evolved into a bad idea from a company that had less AAA output in the past and was a good idea for them back then. The company they've become that service no longer makes logical sense. They're one of it not the biggest publishers in gaming they can't be giving all these AAA games away for next to nothing with such a service without feeling pain.

Tried to get my mother in law on youtube TV and a cheaper internet plan with ooma for a land line. Would be like 100 bucks cheaper but she was like NOPE. :francis:

Everything you say is fukkin wrong. Just made up shyt devoid of fact.

The subscription model provides Amazon with predictable, recurring revenue that's highly profitable once a member is acquired. After covering content costs and shipping subsidies, Prime likely operates at margins above 50%.
