yes they will be forced to sell and move thus they will be gentrified.
well based on experience with my own family members, increased property taxes in brooklyn occurred because the home values skyrocketed. when that happened they refinanced and bought homes in florida and georgia and either rented out their booklyn homes and moved or rented out the florida and georgia properties and stayed in brooklyn with this new found additional income. either way a net win for them.

This is not a manufacturing location. These are all corporate gigs that pay six figures. They're relocating people from Seattle to both locations.

Ohhhhhh so they are opening a corporate office and not a manufacturing/warehouse?

So they are transferring Seattle workers to NYC, and won't open jobs for people who live in NYC?

Shiiett, I said I would never move anywhere north of NC, but ima throw mine out there just to see if I can get a bite. Being an Amazon engineer does have a nice ring to it.

With a nice relocation package, them selling my house down here, and moving my fiancé and daughter up there, they can get my country ass up there

Sell your house down there and you'll be lucky to buy a studio over here

Yea, I was just messing around. Although NYC is a fun city, I’ve got no intentions of going up north.

I’ve heard bad things about working for Amazon, but I’ll probably shoot a resume out to the Nashville location.

They were always going to New York or DC. This whole thing was a shyt show to force better terms for them from both cities. This dude owns the Washington Post, bought a big ass house in DC last year and more than three DC area cities were on the list of 20 cities they were choosing from. I’m glad some mayors and politicians in various towns didn’t give in to this dude. FOH. If you gonna come you gonna come. If not, you never were anyways. GE didn’t hold a public contest over which town they were going to choose when they moved from Connecticut to Boston. They broke bread behind closed doors and came up with terms that made sense for both sides. And the hilarious thing is nikkas were bending over backwards thinking they were getting 50,000 workers and a true second headquarters only for him to split it in half so it’s really just a regional office. I doubt all this fervor would’ve happened and those tax terms would’ve been as favorable as they were if all these cities knew it was only 25,000 workers coming.

I'm glad its not coming to Maryland. So glad.

NYC gives Amazon $1.5B incentive for split HQ2
Nov. 13, 2018 11:07 AM ET|By: Brandy Betz, SA News Editor

Amazon (AMZN +2.2%) confirms that it selected D.C. and NYC for its split HQ2.

The company says it will receive $1.525B in performance-based direct incentives in Long Island City over the next 10 years. The total includes a refundable tax credit of up to $1.2B through the state’s Excelsior Program. The amount is based on a percentage of salaries Amazon expects to pay employees over the next decade or $48K per job for 25K jobs.

A $325M cash grant from Empire State Development is based on the square footage of the buildings occupied in the next decade.

Amazon’s “National Landing”/Crystal City location will get $575M in performance-based direct incentives on 25K jobs created with an average wage over $150K.

The Commonwealth will invest $195M in infrastructure improvements in the neighborhood including metro stations and a pedestrian bridge to Reagan National airport.
