Amazon to raise Prime subscription pricing in the US by $20-$40(update : raised to $99 yr)

I'm about to renew next week for $35 with Amazon Student. Hopefully that price is fixed for the remainder of the service.

I don't use Prime anyway... all of my orders are literally over $35 so I get free shipping anyway and I'm in a state where they currently charge no tax to.

I only buy blu-rays and games. Sometimes Amazon doesn't price match Best Buy, sometimes they do. When they don't, I'm at my local Best Buy using somebody's employee discount.

For those who use Prime, is that price that beneficial? I feel like if I had Prime, it'd force me to spend more money than I should just cause I know I'll get free shipping.

Damn I got some bad news this morning; I was using Amazon Student to get a discount on Amazon Prime for like 4 years with the .edu email from the University I graduated from. They said my Amazon Student membership expired and if I want to get the discount rate I have to show proof with actual transcripts dates, ID’s etc. Now I have to go back and get Prime at the full price. All the money I spend with them I should get automatic discount. I guess Amazon is coming for us lol.

dont tell me that, they just emailed me the other day telling me to reup my prime account, everything went fine supposed to get billed in two weeks
