A U.S. soldier was detained in Russia over the weekend, according to three U.S. officials.

He had been stationed in Korea and traveled to Russia on his own and not on official business.



The soldier is accused of stealing from a woman.

The U.S. Army did not immediately return a request for comment.

When I worked with the DoD they were really adamant about not letting their people travel to hostile countries because they're always looking to hem them up as a bargaining chip. He should have known the Kremlin would be so aware of him going through customs
