yup, black folks are waaaayyyy behind our white counterparts. my buddy is white and while he's extremely financially savy, he did benefit from not having student loans plus inheriting property that he ended up selling for six figures.

I started from nothing and have a pretty good sized nest egg all on my own. I could be better, but I'm doing better than most folks.

you just have to think great grandpa was owning property and working a good job back in the day of segregation etc.

All the time and energy spent chasing higher minimum wage should have been used to push price caps.

A higher minimum wage doesn't get you out of the clutches of the Beast if said beast will just get hungrier.

People never wanna hear about price caps, though. They think minimum wage increases is a solution that simply has to work at some point. If minimum wage increases was a solution you'd only need to raise it once.

the min wage went up 3 dollars where i live from 11 to 1
all companies did is slash hours/benefits and restaurants/stores etc raised their prices

It sounds like those problems are self created. I don’t have ANY money problems at the moment, which is why I could care less about this thread. But when I did have extreme money problems, most of them were self generated

It's a "self created" problem to live in a city or work in an industry that requires a car? It's a self created problem to be born in a country where the cost of education rises exponentially each year? Housing prices skyrocketing due to foreign investors and other outside influences is a self created problem now?

Americans are entitled spoiled brats and if you left the country for a little while you’d see that.

And yes, finding happiness in materialism makes you a scourge of society when there are people in the world dying of malnutrition you fukk :heh:

You don’t need cable, internet, your smartphone, your brand name clothes, none of that. You want them. And you pay the price . Deal with it and stop fukking complaining.

Keep pretending the truth isnt that you want your piece of the “American Dream” like every other self entitled MF. Living in the most rich country in the world and you’re complaining about bulshyt. Be quiet,

We exist in a society where things like smartphones and internet are not longer a "want" but a NEED. I have to have both just to do my damn job. That shyt hasn't been a luxury "fun" item in over a decade.

This don't have shyt to do with wanting the American dream or ~materialism~ and your "staving people in Africa" argument is tired bullshyt. There's levels to being poor and it depends on where you live. Poor people in China make pennies a day. That doesn't make someone in America $7/hr rich by any standard.

You say America is the richest country in the world as if the majority of us have any kind of access to that wealth. There are 540 BILLIONAIRES in America and they control almost everything. Their wealth has fukk all to do with the rest of us.

The fact that you're both ignorant and arrogant is a horrifying combination.

The problem is the trend. We are regressing. Do you want to pass a worse future off to your kids?
Is that a choice?

Just wait until the autonomous cars hit the market.

You can’t expect a country built on individualism to turn heel and become collective.

Look at it from their perspective. You have people who make dollars when others are making pennies. As a business owner your only goal is to generate a profit. You can’t just cancel the wages and stifle those labor expenses. But you can do other things to ensure that during future business cycles labor expenses will be less.

You cut education. There are many benefits to an educated population.

I don't understand whose perspective I'm supposed to be looking at this from?

The person I was replying to was implying the issues people ITT were complaining about were their own fault. He also said America is rich as if to imply all its people are. I only brought up the 540 billionaires to highlight the wealth gap.

I already know where America is headed. The wall is to keep the slaves in. once robots and all of this come in, the people are going to be government slaves. They will take away the majority of peoples' ability to earn an income. Universal income is pretty much welfare on steroids. This will give the government ultimate control. If you disagree with the government, you can't find a job because robots are doing most of the work and you have your universal income removed.
