It’s not as simple as saying if there’s more guns there will necessarily be more gun deaths... and Arizona proves this empirically.
If you wanna say that’s one state, that’s fine, but let’s look at your post. Indiana has I believe the third highest gun ownership rate and extremely lax gun laws, yet its gun crime is relatively low and completely dwarfed by Illinois next door which has strict gun laws...
Please explain how looking at this you find the number of guns to be the variable we should be legislating to reduce gun violence and death?

I know what your point was, it's the same point that conservatives always try to make in these debates. You're basically saying there's no perfect solution so let's not do anything. You won't use those exact words but we can put 2 and 2 together.

At no point did I ever say more guns equals more deaths. I explicitly said that less guns equals less gun deaths. Those were my exact words and they are two very different statements. Trying to equate the two is just another smokescreen.

Just to be safe it, states with more guns do have more deaths according to research that you should have already been googling.

Indiana actually ranks above Illinois in terms of gun death when comparing deaths to overall population, so it's pretty inaccurate to say that Illinois dwarfs them in that regard. Illinois is twice the size of Indiana if my math is right, yet Indiana has more gun deaths per 100,000 citizens. But sure.

Arizona actually ranks ahead of Illinois and Indiana in terms of gun deaths by population so I'm not even sure where you're getting these arguments from now.

Guns are killing machines. Period. That's their purpose. Having less killing machines available for anyone and everyone to just pick up on a whim would lead to less killings.

My position which keeps getting spun is that the measures being proposed offer little to no return on investment.
To which you are essentially saying, well it’s better than doing nothing...

Which I understand, but given the culture/history of this country, I don’t want firearms(including high caliber ones) even more difficult/inconvenient for law abiding citizens to obtain.

My sources would get me negged to oblivion :lolbron: I’m better off conceding. All I’ll say is the stats I’m looking at filter out suicides which make up two thirds of “gun violence”.
Illinois has a higher homicide rate than Indiana.
