electoral votes aren't given on who wins the popular vote. They usually do but that's not how it always happens.
Electoral votes are granted based on who wins the popular vote in each state. The number of electoral votes each state is granted is designated proportional to the population of each state. But whoever wins the popular vote in that state gets all the electoral votes for that state...except for Maine and Nebraska which each have 3 electoral votes and 2 of each are granted by popular vote statewide...the other 1 for each are granted by popular vote per district.

Except for those minor deviations in Maine and Nebraska, this is shyt you're supposed to learn in grade school.

Anyway, the point is you have people like the poster in the OP believing conspiracy bullshyt from Umar Johnson videos instead of learning facts. Dude said the people don't choose the President, the electoral college does...like the electoral college is some kind of board or body that appoints people that has nothing to do with voting results. :mjlol:

And you have people saying a man who speaks complete and utter baseless, fact-devoid bullshyt routinely and rapidly should be teaching kids just because he wears and a dashiki and a kufi and says he's pro black.

this is why its important to give all the info cause not all states make it a requirement for the elector to vote with the popular vote

Yep, in 24 states there are no legal requirements on who they have to vote for. They could technically vote for whoever they want to and not much people could really do about it.

U. S. Electoral College

Yea, they pretty much are a board who can vote for who they like, even people who are not running. Word to John Ewards getting a vote in 2004.

It's Time To Abolish The Electoral College

Again, only Maine and Nebraska deviate from a complete winner takes all electoral vote system, and even for those 2 states, they only grant 1 electoral vote each outside if the statewide popular vote...but they're still assigned by popular vote, just by district, not by state. That's a minor technical discrepancy that has never decided the outcome of an election and is still directly dependent upon the vote.

People like the guy in the OP are miseducated to the basic fact that the electoral college (which is flawed and outdated imo but that's another discussion) is just a system of electing a President based on votes and population because he watched some Jermaine Shoemake video about Bilderbergers and the Federal Reserve and all this bullshyt and thinks the Electoral College is some appointment panel.

I have a hard time taking any of these posters seriously on who they claim should be teaching children based on what they spew daily.
I could only imagine what the world would be like if they had influence on large numbers of children.

I think it should be abolished as well because it's an outdated system. It was meant to decentralize voting power from the northeast cities in the 18th century, but the whole country is populous now so there's no need for it.

Don't act like that's what the guy in the OP was saying though. He said voting is meaningless because the electoral college chooses the president, like it's a body that selects independent of votes. And when I explained to him that electoral votes are assigned by who wins the popular vote state-by-state, he said they're not.
