I think their approach is wrong, because most people are too uninterested for the issues to go beyond simple binaries of "good or bad." If you're obsessed with 4 kids out of 85,000 being banned from school sports, you have a weird fixation. That's all there is to it.
What does whether anyone would marry a trans person have to do with the fact that Republicans are trying to erase them from public life? This is the same thing that Republicans have been doing for decades, attacking marginalized communities (black people, gay people, and now trans people) to distract from the fact that none of their policies are even intended to help anyone who is not a millionaire/billionaire.
