Honestly the level of denial and ignorance spewed by many pitbull owners just fuels the excessive hate that is directed toward the breed.
It's fine for a pitbull owner to think their dog is the sweetest dog in the world but you can't pretend that it doesn't have the ability to do a lot of damage on a bad day or even in a bad 2-3 seconds. They can be a very nice and loyal dog but no matter how sweet they seem, letting them around children or unleashing them in a dog park is just not a risk I would be taking. All of the pits who mauled dogs or children or even full grown adults had been sweet non violent dogs up until that point.
My dog has had a few instances where a playful rough housing match with another dog got a little too personal but he's only 25 lbs and he stops in his tracks if the other dog tells him it's too much or vice versa. He's not powerful enough for that momentary escalation to cause any damage. With pits it's a different story so they have to be handled with a much greater deal of care and responsibility. A good pitbull owner (and I think most of them are) realize that. Meanwhile, the pitbull owners who think this is all just a witch hunt without merit are the reason that these attacks keep happening.

You sound like an old ass man complaining about the neighborhood scum lol. Yo, I agree though. People always say "any dog" but that's b.s. It's all about breed as far as I can see. Keep Ferrets out of the house too. One of em got loose and chewed this babies nose off a few months back. Give me a lab or a Yorkie and I'm good
Damn I miss my Dawg, I will say they can be too defensive sometime...and when they really snap, it's hard to get em back in control, but a good owner can do it.
