Already looks more RnB/Soul focused off the tracklist, which is a good thing in his case
I think he low key admitted that once Dre was in the writing/producing process he knew it’d kinda be trash so he started working on Ventura at the same time
Oh I’m all for an artist experimenting that’s what music is all about but Oxnard just wasn’t good imo. Whatever he aimed for he just didn’t get it. But Ventura is what we all wanted from himI think he just knew it was going to be too different for a lot of his fans. He tried out that blockbuster rap star sound and it didn't work for him in terms of connecting with his fam base.
At least he was smart enough to have a Plan B ready to go and give his original fans what they wanted from the get go.
I'll never hold it against an artist for trying something new. I still fukk with both albums and think they work together really well.
Dre’s his boss. What could Paak do?I'm surprised Paak even agreed to work so closely with Dre. The better blueprint is to give Dre a nearly finished product and let him revise it. I wouldn't trust him writing shyt or taking control creatively.

Dre is Kendrick's boss too. Didn't stop Kendrick from picking all the beats he wanted for GKMC. None of the tracks were produced by Dre disciples. Yes Dre heavily helped craft the album but they brought him a near finished product.Dre’s his boss. What could Paak do?
Wrong thread, meant to post in the Ventura thread. But after listening to Oxnard over the past 12 months, the highs slightly outweigh the lows.
Glad he followed up with a better album
