This is the follow up to Malibu I was expecting to hear. At this point in his career, I only want Dre to be in the mixing process when it comes to albums. No production or features.

THE FOLLOWUP TO MALIBU WAS YES LAWD....WHY DO CATS KEEP LEAVIN THAT 1 OUT?

This album is fire :banderas:

Ventura is definitely the album he wanted to make and Oxnard is the album the label wanted him to make. There’s not one skippable song on this album and the production is really mature. Maybe I’m caught up in the new album hype but I might like this more than Malibu.

When the drums come in on Winners Circle :mj:

Yes Lawd is a NxWorries group album with Anderson .Paak & Knxwledge. It was a great album but not a follow up to Malibu technically

THATS A PAAK SOLO BRO .... KNXWLWDGE IS A PRODUCER.

THATS LIKE SAYING RAKIM’S ALBUMS WIT ERIC B ARE GROUP ALBUMS.... TECHNICALLY, MAYBE. BUT NOT REALLY.

Much better than that last trash album he had
Like his mix of features
Kiefer on the keys and producing two songs
Pharrell with a song
I like

A few tracks gave me a Dilla vibe......Wishful thinking, but if Dilla was still alive, thee two would have made magic.

I didnt think Oxnard was terrible (I can see why people didnt like it), I enjoyed it, and still gave it some burn up until this release. Ventura still a great sounding album that I can see having staying power.

Production wise this album basically has many of the same producers from Oxnard minus Dre, but some of his acolytes (like Dem Joints) are still here. Sound wise the biggest difference to me is that it's more soulful and nothing really sounds like a song you'd hear in an Apple ad, or in the trailer for some white hipster movie.

I'll have more to say later...it's not close to Malibu for me but it's a dope album. Can't wait to get the Free Nationals album btw.

You can also tell Interscope put this out to die. No interviews, no media tour...

For all fo those sayin this project was created without Dre's input this time around

head of aftermath AnR has confirmed both projects and material were created and recorded at same time , the only differemce is cetain tracks made 1 project and not the other ..
