Finally got a chance to listen to the clip, and he's absolutely correct. Bernie said the same thing when Trump got in lamenting Democrats inability to speak to white working class voters. Truth be told, it's similar to what you're seeing with ADOS and Black men who voted for Trump as they're primarily looking at things from an economic perspective. It's easy to label the Black men who voted for Trump, c00ns. The inconvenient truth is, Republicans have done a much better job in recent years than Democrats when it comes to delivering a message focused on your pockets. We know it's largely bullsh!t and those coal jobs ain't coming back, but at least they talk a good game. More than what Democrats have said in recent years. There was a time I'd associate Democrat with unions, and I still do. However, those hard hats on burly white men aren't exclusive to Democrats any longer. I'm Black and when I think Democrat, women and gays come to mind more than anything else.
Another thing, beyond Democrats inability to speak to working class voters, they've also done a poor job in fighting mischaracterizations from the GOP. Republicans got working class white people voting against their own interests. They vote Red thinking they've got to offset the interests of the coastal elites, Hollywood, intellectuals, the music industry, and lately professional Black athletes. The GOP really brainwashed these fools, and Democrats have done nothing to convince those voters otherwise. Like Yang said, if they don't address this, and it's going to harm them in further elections. Trump was a symptom of what's wrong in this country, and it's not exclusively racism.
