Andy dalton ain't upper echelon...dumb bengals...this nikka ain't even earned 10 million/year average

These comments are DUMB. Look at QB contracts around the league the last year or so. Look at Romo, Cutler, Kaep, etc.... Andy and other QBs of his caliber will get around that. The market sets the value, not you. If Cutler's getting $5, then Andy's gonna ask for $6 and he provably deserves it.

The "hes not worth $X" argument gets clouded by many...market value is just that...value to the market...and value to the buyer.

Think about buying a house. How do they say what it should be listed at? How do you get a loan originator to agree to give you a loan for the sellers desired asking price? They BOTH do their own comps of compatible houses with similar attributes in the same area to find a common ground. That's all sports contracts are; market value assets that are paid according to supply and demand. It only takes one house (or player) in a neighborhood (or sport) to drive up the prices for the rest of the them.

Dudes think QBs carry teams to SB victories and that does not happen. You need an entire team effort and while Andy has been a fukk up...the team has fukked up too.

The guy is 25? He was a 2nd round pick. He has already exceeded expectations. He should be fine in the playoffs with more experience.

Folk talking about Rodgers, Brees, Peyton, Brady, etc.... Tells me they haven't watched much football cuz them dudes didn't hit the ground running (especially in the post season). Brees got his ass traded. Peyton couldn't win a playoff game until his 4th one. Brady was game managing his way to SBs..only to win nothing once he became a premier QB. Rodgers hasn't done jack all in the offs except for that 1 SB year. Have some gotdamn patience. When he's falling over hiself in year 5 then talk about replacing him.

Exactly so why be beholden to a QB that hasn't already demonstrated that he is special? Even the special ones don't win like that but at least they demonstrate the ability to do more with less and carry a squad that may lack elite WRs and/or defense. I could see paying $18-20 mil for that but he's not that and you are making a pretty big gamble paying him like it. AJ is gonna want his bread. Burfict is gonna want his bread. Then you end up like the Lions (:snoop:) with all your money tied up in 3 people. They didn't even have to pay him yet. They could have made him earn his money like Flacco.

Your comment is dumb. Dalton can't take the team to the next level and is now taking up too much of the cap. he 0-3 in the playoffs and all you have to do is pressure him and he will make mistakes. Do u even watch the games or u just a stat guy

Plus the concept for "overpaying" for a player = houses selling over list price because multiple buyers wanted it.

Its real basic shyt armchair gms get emotional about it.

Lets just separate his playoff performance from his contract for a minute.

There is a reason agents and the players unions in every sport wants their players to 'set the market' for everyone else, it's called a comp. Basic of supply and demand. If your agent can paint a picture of you that shows that your similar to another player, and that player got X, a team cannot just go and say 'well that's an overpay, we don't believe the market for that caliber player is that' without a back up plan which in football only consists of younger players who are paid on a rookie scale.

If they don't have that, and they, say, go on the open market looking for one......how, exactly are they going to find a BETTER QB, for less money than the one they let go???

There is a reason that teams fall off or never succeed in the first place...it's called bad decisions. :heh: I don't think anyone is mad at Dalton for getting the money or failing to understand why he was given the money. The issue is the impact of him getting his money on the Bengals. The pressure is on him to show and prove. No more excuses or pleas.

Did the Bengals not do exactly that with Carson?

Stop with the cliche garbage. Of course I watch the games which is why I'm intelligent to know it takes the entire TEAM to win a game. The QB hasn't done his part in the playoffs, but neither has the whole TEAM so to place blame on one guy, is silly. Especially a young guy learning the position. Dude wasn't the 1st overall pick. He was a 2nd rounder who has EXCEEDED expectations. Have some perspective. What did the last QB in Cincy do? Is there a Dalton replacement on the team or in free agency?
