It took a lot of courage for her to do this and even more to admit to it. She could have always got the implants and no one would be the wiser. If it means saving her life then good for Angelina. That cancer aint no joke and is nothing to be played with.

Also, as a correction, everyone has the BRCA1 gene. She carries a certain mutation in that gene. That's why she did what she did.
