If Youtube is your sole source of income, you lost. I don't give a shyt how much money you're supposedly making unless you're PewDiePie levels of popular.

Soon as Youtube or whoever changes their policy, these motherfukkers make these videos crying like bytches.

Get a traditional 9-5 and do this shyt on the side because it's embarrassing more often than not.

But Youtube has become a side shyt for a lot of these dudes, like KSI and the Hodgetwins, don't know what you're talking about.

How isn't what he's doing a job? Just because he enjoys doing it? He's self employed like a lot of Internet personalities are.

It ain't a job because nobody told me that you could earn a living doing shyt like making videos, these fukks should be in a cubicle like me..................yes i'm mad and sad :Larry MJ:

joe seems like a jackass, but legally he is probably protected. it's already established that content can be used for journalism, analytical criticism, and review. the problem is of course that none of these dudes has the money or resolve to really take major corporations to court.

keep in mind that the movie and book review industry already settled this stuff, and major outlets like IGN dont get messed with not because they have permission, but because they are backed by major media groups.
They would probably have to sue YouTube because they're the ones that created the content ID system to appease companies into not suing YouTube and Google.

Buried in reams of financial data is the revelation that Nintendo have 812.8 billion Yen (£6.7/$10.5 billion) in the bank – enough for it to take a 20 billion Yen loss (£163/$257 million) every year until 2052. Then there’s almost 469 billion Yen (£3.8/$6.0 billion) held in premises, equipment and investments. When that runs out – we’re in the year 2075 by this point – they’ve got some of the most valuable intellectual property in gaming to sell off before the company goes out of business.

if I buy a guitar from Gibson, and go make a hit record with it, do I owe Gibson any money besides what I paid for the guitar?
if you buy a movie does that give you the right to upload it to youtube? or music? or wait, thats illegal right?

Have they even sold 10 million Wii Us in Damn near 3 years? Nintendo is clearly having problems.

Let's go with the last published numbers in sales for all their consoles from the SNES on
SNES: 50 Million
N64: 33 million
Gamecube: 22 Million
Wii: 101.5 Million
Wii U: 9.2 Million

Nintendo's consoles are trending down in sales pretty consistently. The Wii was an anomaly. On average the successor console is probably shedding 10 million users per system. Why is that?

Compare that to Sony's sales of all consoles.
PS1: 102.5 Million
PS2: 155 Million
PS3: 87 Million
PS4: 20 Million+

it comes down to the question of at what point does it count as 'derivative work'. a video game tends to be more interactive than a movie or music. so just watching it inherently misses a big part of the experience. especially with something like Mario Party

The youtuber in question makes more money a year than everyone posting in this thread combined.

He should quit that and go and get a 9-5 :heh: yall sound ridiculous

Well shyt, you're not even smart enough to realize I didn't even say Youtubers should quit doing this, so I'm pretty sure you're not smart enough to realize how dumb these Youtube personalities actually look outside of how much money they allegedly make. :ld:

I dont get the idea behind watching a game on youtube and other people playing it but apparently its young kids that do these days. Instead of buying a game they just watch it :yeshrug: Maybe its because of the eroding middle class, less expendable income and lets be real gaming is an expensive hobby. Its cheaper to watch it :yeshrug: Its taking money of the gaming companies pockets. Now,certain games have benefited from people like pewdiepie sure, but theres no real data behind losses/benefits.

If a company is cool with it,then more power to them. but if they arent then thats their right as far Im concered,it is there property after all. :yeshrug: Its not really a grey area to me personally. Its up to each individual company to decide wether its good or bad for them. But I dont think buying a game gives you the right to broadcast it as you please.

You are missing the point. It isn't the broadcasting its the fact that people make money on it. If you do a let's play and don't monetize the video the content ID system will match it and Nintendo will place ads on it and make money on it. If your channel gets monetize then Nintendo takes all the ad revenue for the entire video.

In other words Nintendo isn't taking these videos down they just don't want people making money off them unless they go through a Nintendo Partner program where they take upwards of 40-50% of the ad revenue off them.

That's their attitude.

And whats the problem with that? Its their games they have a right to make money off of it.
