you are bringing up 1 example, what about the thousands of other people on youtube making a living

and yes, thousands, from make up artists, to people who review shyt, to people who play games..

your problem is your is your ignorance i made $101 last year off youtube, off only 60,000 views

these people average 250,000+ views per video and do 1 video a day. Just using basic math thats $400 a day off that video, thats not counting the views they get from old videos

the ignorance of current reality of video gaming is why the arcadium is a dumb forum 90% of the time

its like majority of this forum stuck with some 1990's mind set

I'm not saying it's not a lot of work to do, especially with all the editing and sifting through hours of footage to do what they do. I was getting at the fact they're actually doing stuff they're passionate about and getting paid for it. A lot of people working a reg. 9-5 can't say the same.

That's the crux of the issue, people can try and twist the narrative but it all boils down to hating on people for doing what they love and some are getting well paid for it

these people not only get a crazy amount of money from youtube, but they get money from selling shirts on they site, ad revenue on their own site which is basically just their youtube videos sponsors, etc..

Not everyone can be as popular as a Summit or Lirik or Angry Joe or Golden Glove.. but with a good personality and dedication to it, someone can make a comfortable living off gaming. Key word is dedication.. its not your traditional 9-5.. Someone like Nadeshot/Angry Joe make more money on Youtube than most top end streamers (youtube gives more back, but donations and subscribers to top twitch users can balance it out). But all they have to do is play a few hours, get the footage they need and spend the rest of the day cropping it for they video.

Someone like Golden Glove streams a lot and THEN youtubes shyt I mean for 10-30k a month id do the same I guess but thats easily a 10-12 hour a day job at this point.

To get that popular, you have to treat it like a job. You take a few weeks off or slack on your schedule, people will move on to the next up coming big streamer.. If you notice all the popular streamers/youtubers have a pretty strict schedule.

and like @winb83 said, its a young man game at this point for the most part.. If I was 18 and streaming came out, 0 doubt in my head id be big on it just cause I could keep up with a 8-10 hour a day schedule playing nothing but games(believe it or not this is the main ingredient to being successful streaming), but man now im to the point where its hard for me to sit down for more than 2-3 hours AT THE MOST and be done for the day. Im to the age where if I play 2-3 20 minute long matches of ANY game im ready to say "aight I gotta take a break" and then I usually end up on the coli or watching TV and never get back to playing a game the rest of the day..

If Youtube is your sole source of income, you lost. I don't give a shyt how much money you're supposedly making unless you're PewDiePie levels of popular.

Soon as Youtube or whoever changes their policy, these motherfukkers make these videos crying like bytches.

Get a traditional 9-5 and do this shyt on the side because it's embarrassing more often than not.

I disagree with that, not all Youtube content creators use videogames.
There are dudes on youtube with content that rivals day time television
and it makes them a mint.
It's not a "loss" when you can pay your bills entirely off of youtube ad revenue.

In DSP's case I watch only a few of his vlogs not his actual playthroughs and this fool met some young chick and while he still had a mortgage on a condo in Connecticut adds a second mortgage on a new house in Washington and moves her with him across the country. Dude is straight simpin it out talking about she got a soap selling business. He knows damn well he's paying all the bills and two mortgages and she ain't doing jack shyt so if he's now paying probably upwards of $2500-$3000 a month in just mortgages cause he never sold his old place before moving. He also blew through all his savings and went into debt to furnish the new home.

The guy mismanaged himself into the position he's in. He had to increase his income to make up for the fact that he has a second mortgage and a live in girlfriend and the debt he accumulated moving.

This has nothing to do with big time Youtbers "making money", this is about Nintendo (an extremely stubborn company that is not performing at Sony and Microsoft's level in the Console game b/c they continue to shoot themselves in the foot) censoring people for uploading gaming videos, unless they cave in into their new YT ad revenue policy. Not only is this fair use, these videos are giving them FREE publicity.

So if yall side with Nintendo on their fukked up policy, that would mean the NBA can "review" my videos on YT, decide which can be uploaded/which cannot, all so they could take a piece of ad revenue?

It seems that you guys are focused on the "big YTers making money while I actually have a job from 9-5" angle, instead of how Nintendo is (or going to, cant remember if this shyt is in effect) giving their fanbase the middle finger.

I openly admit I couldn't play games as a job for 7 or so hours a day begging for donations on Twitch and Youtube and Patreon. Sure having a regular job has its issues but at least it's mostly stable. That game playing on YouTube sort of living is totally unstable. The bigger YouTubers like Angry Joe they'll be good but the mid-to-low tier ones that's a struggle life. Joe does stream but he produces a few highly edited videos a week to month and that pays him.

Those guys like DSP that do Let's Plays mostly. I feel for them. Their hobby has become an obligation. I'd rather be the ReviewTechUSA type YouTuber than the DSP type.
