Really enjoyed it and I feel like the ending elevated it from being a really good film to something great.

The tone and aesthetic of this movie feels very different from modern films or what I went in expecting. If you switch the music from hip hop/dance to pop and rock it could be an 80s film. In many ways it reminded me of Risky Business. Not because both films have sex workers but because of the blurred lines of transactional relationships coming to a head.

Acting was amazing. Madison was fantastic and I thought the guy who played Igor was stunning. Another thing that felt like something from an older film...a very reserved performance, stoic yet charged at times.

We watched this tonight... Mikey Madison was great, she deserved that Oscar Great performance by her. Far as looks go, she's a pretty average chick but she definitely got some sex appeal in this

Sean Baker did his thing but I don't know if I'd say this is 'Best Picture' worthy. It's like a higher level version of 'The Hangover'

It’s Pretty Woman without the happy ending. Ironically, Anora’s ending is what the writer truly wanted but Richard Gere and Julia Roberts chemistry tested well so they changed the ending.

I don't think a lot of people are grappling with the fact that she's not a particularly good person. There's a segment of people who wanted her to be a perfect representation of sex workers who is a good person because she's a sex worker. And there are people who dislike her character because she's a sex worker and think they're making a point by saying they don't like her. Not every main character is meant to be completely sympathetic or perfect or a good person. You can tell a lot of people were taken aback by her saying "fakkit" and they can't grapple with it. Newsflash, she's not an inherently good person and she talks like a lot of people talk. She's flawed and while we live in an atmosphere where that's very much not ok in the eyes of a lot of (hyper online) people....it's ok.

Her character role in Anora is confusing for the reasons you stated. She was a willing 304 who thought her p***y was gold and got an oligarch’s kid sprung to only realize she was a weeklong hype and sent back to her reality.

Can't believe this won best picture. story was something a jr high student could have wrote. Acting was sub par too. 2025 and movie's with partying montages are winning academy awards is crazy best actress for being a hooker getting banged out by a rich kid while yelling obscenities. The movie starts strong but falls flat after the first 45 minutes, I can’t believe how over the top the last hour and 20 minutes are
