The only one who showed her love in that movie was Igor. She was cruel to him because she didn't want to be vulnerable and get hurt again. I think she broke down because she had to. All the shyt that happened in 48 hours was so much and there was only one person who would've understood and been able to give her real comfort and it was him. He never asked her for anything and never tried to take anything from her.
I also think it's very intentional that you don't know what year the movie takes place in, but you get hints like the new year party happening(without the year being shown on TV or anyone saying it) and then at the end with the winter storm.
The movie really shows you how rich people feel about everyone else. To them, you're not a real human being. They lose all sense of true value, they don't even value the humanity of other people. This and the brutalist were great choices for best picture. It's definitely a movie that pushed the R rating. I bet there's a directors cut which would be NC-17.
