Larry Brown is one of the most overrated coaches of all time, that guy kept his young players on the bench all the time, terrible coach for developing talent, so no matter who they drafted they wouldn't shine under Larry Brown. Pistons were extremely lucky they got Sheed for free.
And still Darko is a bigger fukker up :manny: None of those 2013 draft picks look like future hall of famers. Meanwhile Wade took his team to 2nd round in his first season already.

Optimistic But I Got Hands Tho
There were so many things wrong with Bennett that isn't even basketball related.

He's got sleep apnea, asthma, poor eye sight, and has a eating disorder.

He wears a mask to sleep at night. :snoop:

I'll never forget my girlfriend at the time asking 5 minutes before the draft started who I wanted them to draft and I said "Anybody but the fat nikka"

:snoop:

Mike Brown was IN LOVE with Bennett.

Bennett isn't a bust, he just wasn't #1 worthy (which is the fault of the Cavs).

They tried to trade back no one wanted the pick.

I get why they took the risk because they needed help scoring in the front court.

You gotta remember they had Alonzo Gee, TT, and Varejao starting at that point.

They way they handled and developed him from day one was horrendous.

A Buckeye State Of Mind
Bennett was a sure fire lotto pick, maybe coulda even went as high as 5 (top 10 lock for sure), but #1? I remember talking with @Illeye buckmatic about this and he said they may go with Bennett and I couldn't believe it just because it didn't make a shred of sense, and low and behold look what happened?

When Darko went 2 it was like "OK we'll see how it works." That Bennett pick was shytted on from the moment David Stern said "Anthony"at the podium.
I remember when it leaked all I could do us go from:dwillhuh: to :francis:

Melo Bosh and Wade woulda wound up like Darko too given who was coach.

The bigger fukk up was Bennett because he had no business going #1 in any justification. Darko had the talent to be up there. Bennett didn't.
What is the question here?

Bigger fukkup by the franchise? Definitely Cleveland...they dodged one with that pick.
Who was worse between the two? I would probably have to say Bennett as well, but that's not exactly his fault he is in this kind of poll...it's mind boggling that he went #1

I think they really wanted Nerlens, but couldn't justify taking him with the injury and having him sit a year when the goal for that season was playoffs, same with Len. Shame they didn't find out how trash Waiters was, could have gone with Victor.

That draft is really funky though, the dudes who were taken outside the Lottery look to be better than the guys who went ahead of them. If the draft was redone Gobert and Giannis would go 1 & 2.

@tremonthustler1 mentioned the Olympics, you may have been too young bike then, but Larry Brown kept LeBron glued to the bench, and played Odom/Marbury/Jefferson/Marion over LeBron, Wade and Amare.
Till this day I say that Brown never got enough blame for that BS. He deserves blame for how things went down with Darko

I remember posting with you and a few others on SOHH when that was going down in the olympics and everyone was literally like :mindblown:

Definitely was one of the weirder draft classes of all time.

He deserved to be a lottery pick, he didn't deserve to go #1. Most mocks had him at 5-10, everybody was surprised on draft night.

If he was picked was picked where he was projected, we wouldn't be having this conversation (dude can play). [/MEDIA]
Dude can play? He's a 6'8 forward with weight problems who can't shoot.
