Hornets run a lot of pick and rolls. If they can add the extra wrinkle of Davis being able to pop out for the corner 3 it can throw the defense off just that much more. Having extra options is never a bad thing. Not saying completely alter his game but his teammates are somewhat limited. As far as players driving to the hole with teammates playing in the post, most slashers say they hate having a guy playing close to the basket. There's a reason Chris Bosh is purely a jump shooter now. Him stepping outside helped force defenders to decide on taking that extra step in the paint on Wade and Lebron and risk leaving Bosh open. Much easier to contest a shot sliding a few feet off the man you're guarding versus coming in from the three point line. NBA defenses are far too sophisticated now to think one strategy will consistently win no matter how great the player.

The thing about 3s is that it's a streaky shot. Even the best guys go through 0-10 stretches. So depending on how often he shoots them that will be possessions where the offense is thrown off and their best rebounder is out of position. And defenses aren't going to respond to you standing behind the 3pt line until you have proven you can make them consistently. Chris Bosh is a 3rd option. It's his job to accommodate the top 2 options. Beyond that Bron and Wade didn't have any issues driving to the hole before he started shooting 3s. They didn't have any issues before they played with him while playing with the likes of Shaq, JO, Big Z, Varajeo. I get the spacing piece I just think that it is being severely overstated right now.

Even though this is an exception and not the norm, Tim Duncan altered his game a lot after the title in 05 once it became clear Ginobili and Parker could eat individually :yeshrug:

This is after carrying the squad for almost a decade and seeing his minutes slashed. Making way for younger guys to carry the squad is one thing. Making way for some also ran ass easily replaceable nikkas that are actually older than the franchise is another.

This truly seems like the only player in the League that would make the NY media fall in love w/ him.

I can't see them writing soul burning articles about him after a poor performance.

Damn I wish some where down the line he would sign in NY...:blessed:

i simply don't get the hype around this guy. he's a good young player don't get me wrong, but he ain't LeBron/kobe type special. IMO, he's not even better than Boogie Cousins right now.

His numbers were already brought up in this thread, but I'll recap 20.8 ppg 10 rbs 3.0 blks shooting 52%. There were SEVERAL games this year where he flirted with a quadruple double. He is the best running big in the NBA, best shot blocker, has a face up game like a guard(because he was 1) and a mid range jumper to go with it. He understands what his weaknesses are and he is addressing them right now. He is adding bulk and working on his post game.

I'll use Pau as an example...

He destroyed Pau like he was never a multiple time all star
