Loser mentality. He's cut from the same cloth as Rashard Lewis and Tobias Harris, just more way more talented.

Mike, Bron, Kobe, Magic, Bird, Shaq, etc. all those guys wanted to be the face. He will not get to that level, no way.
What about Duncan and Jokic???

They wasn't the face of the league and they champions

Nothing wrong with that. When did this whole talk of “face of the league” start anyway? It’s supposed to be organic anyway. Iverson never asked or wanted to be the face of the NBA, but he became the most popular player because he represented the hip hop culture and anti-corporate image.

Jayson Tatum is everything someone would want from a face of the NBA. Non controversial, speaks eloquently, plays for a storied franchise, but his personality is bland.

Ant come from a different background than all them dudes.

He probably would've been a YSL member if he didn't hoop

I dont think its about "wanting" to per se.

Either he plays well enough and wins enough to be ordained as the face the league or he is just another star player`

Exactly. All these people they’re measuring him against when dissecting these comments (Kobe, Bron, MJ, Steph) have 4 or more rings.

Their resumes tell me way more about them as players than their media comments.

I never seen Jokic or Duncan being afraid of the spotlight though. Edwards is literally saying he's scared of the spotlight. The guy has flashy moves and can dunk really well, which makes fans really admire his game and he is pretty much saying he don't want that kind of attention.

Hard for Tim Duncan to be the face of the league when Shaq and Kobe were in their prime years back then and then LeBron quickly gained popularity on top of that. Those were obviously more popular guys.

Glad I got to grow up and witness hoops in its best eras and absolute peak. Feel for the kids that got to deal with new era of “superstars”. None of these new nikkas truly superstars, just nikkas that can hoop well. You gotta be a different type of nikka to get that “superstar” tag.

Not every player wants that attention and that's ok

Winning championships has nothing to do with being the face of the league

And every single one of those guys WANTED the crown. You also had AI, KG, Dirk, T-Mac and even Wade later who were gunning for that crown of being the top guy in the league after MJ.

That's true nobody was calling Steph the face of the league until he won
