what does that mean for herd immunity?

We'll still have some breakthrough cases in highly vaccinated populations but even in those breakthrough cases the virus wouldn't be able to replicate as much as it would otherwise

People who were fully healthy, exercised daily, took their vitamins STILL caught this virus, and were f*cked up. So that take your vitamins/work out narrative is a lazy one. We've had professional athletes on record catch that & said it was a horrible experience.

Secondly, Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson are not government agencies nor are they ran by the United States government.

*EDIT* The longer this virus hangs around, the more variants will be born, which could potentially lead to less effectiveness in the current set of vaccines.

‘I’m sorry, but it’s too late’: Alabama doctor tells unvaccinated, dying COVID patients

“A few days later when I call time of death,” continued Cobia on Facebook, “I hug their family members and I tell them the best way to honor their loved one is to go get vaccinated and encourage everyone they know to do the same.”

“They cry. And they tell me they didn’t know. They thought it was a hoax. They thought it was political. They thought because they had a certain blood type or a certain skin color they wouldn’t get as sick. They thought it was ‘just the flu’. But they were wrong. And they wish they could go back. But they can’t. So they thank me and they go get the vaccine. And I go back to my office, write their death note, and say a small prayer that this loss will save more lives.”

40% of covid patients in hospital in the UK are vaccinated.

60% of people being admitted to UK hospitals are unvaccinated - adviser

But my question was specifically about herd immunity and I don't think you answered it.

I tried to answer it at a molecular level because my background is partially in biochemistry and I would be stepping wayyyy out of bounds answering a question meant for an epidemiologist.

Also I don't know too much about how the UK was administering their vaccines. Did they often wait longer than the recommended 3 weeks to give the second shot?

yes.

based on reports like these:

"Second doses will be given no sooner than 8 weeks after your first dose. This is to provide maximum protection against COVID-19. All vaccination centres are expected to follow this guidance and cannot provide second doses earlier, except where there are exceptional clinical reasons for doing so."

But your actions dealing with the pandemic DOES affect the next person. It takes cooperation on a societal scale to defeat this pandemic once and for all, and everyone is failing to do that, because of that mentality you display.

People who are in the high risks categories should be vaxxed. People who are in regular contact with high risk people should be vaxxed. If people who are high risk cannot get vaxxes for what ever reason, they they will have to minimize their exposure to the outside world, wear masks, etc.

There's no difference between myself and others who have had the virus and people who are vaxxed as far as transmission rates, severity of illness, hospitalization, and death. In fact, they're finding that natural immunity may be even better. Me and my mentality are not the problem here.

People do have the right to not trust the vaccine. Especially since it took like a year at most to develop it and the fact that we don’t know the long term effects of it. I only took the shot’s so I won’t have to wear these damn masks anymore.
Y;all still keep drumming home this doofus ass argument.

Covid is a strain of a virus they've spent 17 years developing a vaccine for. So they got a fukkload of funding and more hours allocated to dump all the research they'd already done to one specific strain.

17 years knowledge of this and they just so happen to only get the vaccine right when this happened last year? Also named the program warp speed but have been devolving a vaccine for 17 years? That is a silly name for a program that took over a decade and half to figure out. Some of y'all sound like workers at a phone store that just say whatever is in the brochure.

Did you just not pay attention to the rest of my post? They got more funding and hours put in to lock down on one virus. COVID turned a brisk walk into a sprint.
