How'd you get into that field?

I'm just trying to see what other opportunities there are and get an honest assessment of the lifestyle and workload...

As it is I work at the retail level for TD. I'm looking to make a move...

I go to a pretty good university so the big 8 came here and recruited so I gave it a try. Failed miserably in my interview with Deutsch bank and Goldman but started to take it serious and finally got morgan stanley.

I love finance overall and think I will move from banking or consulting to private equity so that's why I did investment banking.

I mean, banking is one thing and one thing only to me, money. There is no other benefit or "enjoyment" other than the money you get and the possibilities you have after your 2 years at a bank. I did the summer internship so it was a minimum of 70hours/week for 8 weeks and I remember working 110hrs/week after july 4th due to people dropping out of the program. I got to rotate into the M&A department and worked on valuation models and researched a lot of news etc pertaining to the industry I was focusing on.

I would only recommend banking to people that are willing to lose 2 years of their life. If you are serious about making bank (no pun) and feel that you can kill yourself for a couple of years to do it, then go ahead. If not, I would rather recommend asset management, financial analyst at other firms, or do M&A or valuation at a large accounting firm.

Breh, I need a PIB on XXX, along with comps in the next 30 minutes, thanks. Also, everyone is done with the XXX pitch, so turn that over again and send that shyt to WP for 15 decks to be ready by 6pm on my desk, got my car booked for 6:10. Oh yeah, we have that SPA call with the lawyers at 6:30, make sure you're on and taking notes, I'll take it in the car. And Brian wants the XXX model updated for 30/70 cash/stock and tone down the post-merger cost savings for warehousing and logistics, they took a piss on it in the last call. Make sure you get that out around dinner time, so we can see where things stand and go from there. Have a good night!
