From what I've heard bio medical has the worst job prospects of any engineering discipline
:ohhh: That explains why I couldn't really find any jobs related to bio medical engineering on jobs sites
but
How difficult would a masters in chemical engineering for someone that did biology in undergrad :patrice:

I feel like hit the cieling as an analyst in ERP Supply Chain implementation (will be making about $115 k in 2017...but thats with OT)
My undergrad is in business admin. The systems engineering masters degree looks interesting. Would it be better to get an MBA?

I'm trying to reach and exceed the $200k annual benchmark

Damn, how old are you? lol 100K is my goal and I am 27 with a Mechanical Engineering undergrad working as a Network Engineer. I am studying for the CISSP to get into cyber security then getting into cloud security and also getting my mba. shyt I would love to make 200K one day.

I'm 27...I usually do about 4 hours of OT + work holidays
But work 80% from home....so I don't mind the holiday and extra work

200k is my goal as well, its just that I don't feel like going back to school

damn, I need to find me a new job. I am still with the company I got in with after college. I feel like I could be making much more. Once I pass the CISSP, I am taking flight. My base salary trash even though I get a good amount of performance bonus but i get taxed like a motherfukker.

Cool man you worked out there. Couple dudes I worked with also went out there. Yeah a great deal of folks at sandi do have masters and PHDs. But having one degree won't stop him from getting a job out there. The folks I knew out there also had one degree.

Another bonus is that Sandi is in New Mexico so you have little to no black folks. Your resume damn near goes to the top of the list because they are a government contractor.

Back in 2014 at NSBE lockheed was taking all their resumes from the conference and funneling them to Sandia (lockheed owns Sandia). Kats fresh out of school were getting calls left and right from Sandia because of this.

Hell a few years ago I had a Sandia recruiter worry me for like 4 interviews. Ended up doing one just for the hell of it. Messed around got the job and they were gonna give me everything I wanted and more. But just couldn't come to grips to moving the wife and kids to damn albuquerque (population probably 3% black or less).
True, I just wanted to warm his that they're gonna want an advanced degree. I didnt know before I got there. But the black benefits are definitely true for recruiting there. They were damn near begging me to join their masters program because they didnt have enough black people. A great fukkin program, but like you said, I couldn't imagine moving to Abq.
Its a great place to work tho :manny:

My job was offering 10K a year for up to 5 years for a MBA or Science/Engineering degree...I was leaning more towards Engineering. Moreso systems or electrical....any suggestions for good online programs?:ohhh:

Me, @iamstr8fire @Mr Hate Coffee @The_Sheff are Industrial Engineers

My man @DSGB is a Computer Engineer

I got some Electrical Engineering friends as well

Where do you live?

If you still have to work and do school at the same time, shyt won't be easy. I'd take the MBA route if you want to do management or go the exec route

Def go with the MBA.

You shouldn't have to pay for an engineering grad degree anyways. A free or heavily subsidized MBA is your best bet for upward mobility, as some have already mentioned in here. Unless you're about that startup life, engineering def comes with a ceiling.

I should add I'm MechE undergrad and masters.

Engineers' careers is not too much different than a running back's career.

Whereas the RB has a clear phase out period, beginning at age 30, the engineer's phase out period begins at 45. In Silicon Valley, some companies try to avoid older engineers at all costs. I'm still not sure how they haven't gotten hit with discrimination lawsuits!

In addition, once an engineer crosses the $100,000 mark, he or she better hop on that management train fast. You're not going to coast on that $100,000 salary, indefinitely.

True brotha. I had the recruiter damn near begging me to take any of the multiple gigs they had out there. A very chill job and you basically got a gig for life doing that shyt (just like the engineers that program the nuclear missles out in places like colorado and huntsville) because the field is such a nitch and it is government work requiring a top secret and a department of energy clearance.

Salaries are also some of the highest around with Sandia unless you working in silicon valley.

Not true. Depends on the field you are in. The demand for engineers, esp depending on discipline and experience, is crazy.
