Oh... another thing that irritates the fukk out of me and when it comes to learning the English language coming from a French background is the thing they call EMPHASIS.

To this day I still struggle with some of the stuff. In French, words are typically pronounced the way they look/spell. In English, every other word has a certain syllable that you have to emphasize when pronouncing it.

To this day as I speak to people I have to repeat the word "compromise " in my head at least 2 to 3 times before I actually say it out loud so that I don't fukk it up. I usually pronounce is as Com-promise as if you are conjugating the verb "promise". I then have to check myself until i get it right.

There are many other words that fukk me up to but this is one of the ones I always struggled with

How hard is it to learn as an English speaker? I really need to learn either french, Arabic or tamazight languages because when I'm in morocco I get finessed like crazy for being a foreigner. I think french would be easier to learn for someone who only speaks English.

How quick is it to pick up?

I know Arabic is definitely not easy for English speakers, since many of the sounds does not exist in the English language and the sentence structure is very different, but learn it anyway while you are in Moroccan and takes some language classes, and stay there for at least a year, or more. I am not saying the French language is not important besides the Educated, but if you want to speak with the common folks, you must learn to speak Arabic, and as far as job opportunities in the west it will open up alot more doors. Also, the Arabic in Moroccan is spoken very different as i noticed, it is like a mixture of arabic, berber, and romance languages, which is hard to understand, but then again i am definitely not a advance Arabic speaker, and i never learned how to write and read in Arabic, but i am working on that, but i still can communicate with relatives in Khartoum and Cairo. Question, is both your parents Moroccans? or you mixs nationalities Moroccan(father) most cases Western mother. I noticed people that comes from mixed backgrounds has a tendency to not teach their children their native language when their spouse is of a different nationality. Which is sad.

I can translate it if I read it because it's so similar to Haitian creole, but I cant speak it well nor write it. It's hard as shyt. A bunch of silent sounds and masculine/feminine shyt. It's similar to Spanish but had more masculine/feminine words for stupid shyt that I really don't care of its male or female.

Actually french is one of the languages where we don't really put an emphasis on any syllable at least not in "mainstream" french. I never noticed it in english because I've been speaking it for some time, but when I learned Italian, it's even worse lol
