Just took apart my clutch plates. 2 of the fiber plates were completely shattered about to order a new oem kit and throw on new drive and driven plates. I should be good to go then right ?

Also dumb question but if the bike got 6 gears why it got 9 sets of plates?

The clutch and the transmission are two different things. The friction from those plates when they come together is what connects the power from the motor two your 6 gears.

Why they use the number of plates I can't tell you lol

Definitely go oem over some of the aftermarket clutches like EBC. They may cost more but they last a whole lot longer... and they grip a whoooole lot better

I just put in my new clutch plates. But my clutch is all play. It don't engage (physically, I haven't started the bike yet) clutch lever is basically limp, won't snap back once pulled. hopefully it's simple as adjusting the shifter rod. I really don't want to drain the oil and mess with the clutch plates again.

Try adjusting it basically there's 3 adjustment points. 1 on the lever (where you see the cable feed into the lever) and there should be one st the end of that cable that lead to the clutch. Basically ya clutch cable feed into a bracket with two nuts on that end of the cable. Watch some YouTube vids about it

I appreciate it breh, you always looking out in this thread ima check it out tomorrow in the AM. I'm pretty sure by the lever where you twist the disc to adjust the play is good, I think when I took apart the gear shifter to get to the front sprocket I missed something. I'll also check out where the clutch cable lead. I'll try to report back tomorrow night. again, appreciate it fam

First off I want to say, dont you hate when you look stuff up online and see people who had the same problems as you asking how to fix it on forums, and people reply and suggest how to fix it, then the person with the problem disappears and never explains how they fixed the issue. That really grinds my gears...but I digress.


I took apart the gear shifter and front sprocket cover again, I think I didnt put it back on correctly before, like the cover wasn't aligned properly and when I tried to disengage the clutch it wouldn't contact the rod that pushed the clutch plates properly. I lined that up right, and also drained the oil again, and parts of the old clutch plates came out, So I opened up the clutch basket cover again, and adjusted the nut in the middle of the clutch plates (sorry, dont know what its called) by opening the lock nut, then tightening the screw with a phillips head screw driver until I could feel it touch the rod on the other end. The clutch was back to normal play (about a nickel could fit in between) I found an old metal filter laying around the garage, filtered the oil back into the bike, drained it, did this two more times until parts of the old clutch plate stopped coming out. started the bike up, went for a test ride and everything works. I know people say I should take off the oil pan and clean that, but that might be too much work for a breh like me I just want to ride

Been thinking about learning to ride a lot more lately, and i just peeped Harley is doing a learn to ride course for $100 for veterans

Think ima do that and see if i can cop something for the low to cruise around on. We only get a few months of decent weather up here so i probably won't spend much


Edit: I just registered for a class at the end of July. Itll give me time to pass the permit test. Only shytty thing is this particular course doesn't provide much gear so i'll have to get a helmet before hand

07 sv650, gsxr750 front end. Jardine slip on, race tank etc. No tags or gear yet so I'm just squidding around the neighborhood. Here's to a fun season

BTW, my downshyts are attrocious

If you take the msf course ($275 where I'm at) you don't need a permit. Once you complete the course you can get your endorsement

I don’t know why suzuki doesn’t make another v twin sportbike like the tlr..


On another note think the local authorities aren’t too happy about my extra curricular activities in the canyons lately. Been “playing” with an Audi R8 the past few weeks in the mountains. And a dude on a nice bmw s1000rr who apparently can’t ride for shyt.... nice bike though

I think they made the sv1000 until 07 and the 650 until 2017.
It coming with the srad forks/ triples etc was clutch since it was something I planned to spend money doing. Might do the rear shock and chill.

Probably upgrade to a race ready bike next year
