nah, because plenty of families have pets...pets damn near neck in neck in importance as the kids. i simply think western countries, for better or worse, tend to look at animals a bit differently than other nations where they simply see an animal as an animal

This is one thing I shall never understand

I think it all goes hand in hand. Wealthier countries tend to have smaller families which leads to more of a need for companionship which leads to pet ownership being commonplace and pet ownership being a cultural norm. Pets are still companions even in families.

my dog if one year old and still has severe separation anxiety. :francis:

before going to work i leave the radio and lights on, even put the tv on disney channel all day treating him like a toddler but something tells me she stands at my garage door all day waiting for me. i'm thinking about getting some cameras to find out.
This nikka said he leaves on Disney Channel :russ:

breh i swear someone told me dogs like those high pitch voices on cartoons. that and she sometimes mistakes some of the cartoons for dogs and runs up to the tv. i try my best to keep her engaged when i'm at work. :mjcry:

if i get some cameras and find out she's standing by the door for hours on end then i'm going to give in and get a second dog. :francis:

Why not just get a dog Walker or daycare? A second dog is cool but if the dog already has issues with attention she may not take well to another dog. I did this with a dog I had for 5 years and he literally hated the new dog until the day he died. The new dog loved him but he would not even look at the new dog for a whole year. :pachaha:

i've thought about daycare once or twice a week but i didnt want to spoil her. i was hoping she would grow out of it naturally. i never really researched the walker option. not sure how i feel about some random person coming into my crib every day.

Get a couple of house trained ones and they can look after each other.

Hell get a couple of cats as well that they can chase around the house.

I wouldn't get just one and leave it alone for extended periods in an apartment.

For those who have to leave your dog all day for typical 8-4 or 9-5/6 work hours

what do you do with your dog during the workday?

Y’all have a walker or send them to doggie daycare?

I really want a dog and was about to get one since I worked in a dog friendly building, but our new office doesn’t allow dogs
If he or she has a partner then you're Gucci leaving them. I used to take my pit to

It doesn't get better. You need to start socializing her more. Dogs are social creatures she needs more attention. You already know that though. Anxiety never goes away and will shorten her life.

If he or she has a partner then you're Gucci leaving them. I used to take my pit to daycare, and leave my lab at home. Nowdays I just leave them home; they're used to it. BTW I work 13 hour overnight shifts. They're pretty much trained when it comes to when I'm at work. They don't pee or shyt in my apartment unless I'm surprised late coming home. All they care about is being together, doesn't matter whether it's in the house or at daycare. I'd put them in daycare but my Pitt got kicked out of daycare for fighting :(. Back in VA I'd have her in daycare and if she fought they'd be like :yeshrug:. I think it was just that place.

bet im going to follow your advice and get the daycare. i take her to the dog park twice a week but i dont think that's enough.

started noticing that she probably has anxiety issues when she literally walks in my shadow wherever i go.

Good move.

My good friend has a dog he took to daycare early. Now I don't think he does it anymore and the dog is fine being alone now that he's older so it may not be something you have to do forever. Just long enough for her to chill out a little bit.

Had one for a week when my ex stupid ass abondoned her dog.

I liked him but shyt was difficult af leaving at 6 and getting back at 6 trying to take care of a dog, having to take him out for walks, etc.
Yea I was mad as hell..my family got a dog when I joined the Navy..

I come back home train her..then go away for 2 years in another state and my mom calling me because she'd rather shop and doesn't have the discipline to discipline the dog and my younger brother is lazy and doesn' t walk her
:francis:

People get dogs and don't understand they're like having a kid

Gotta walk em in any weather even when you don't feel like it...they get depressed" health issues.

I gotta lock my dog in the room with me when I goto bed because when she gets up in the morning she'd go do something sneaky and pee on a rug down stairs because she doesn't hold her pee in long.

I leave at 7:30, get home by 5. Have a shih-tzu and a Chihuahua.

Two half bowls of water (they don't share). Three puppy pads around the house. The shih-tzu waits for me to get home to potty. Chihuahua goes on the pads if he can't wait.

hilarious..just like fukking kids
