It's your fault that you did something you knew was illegal and in turn you are paying consequences for it. If you didn't know what you were doing was wrong, that'd be something else but you knew and still took the risk and this is the result.

Don't be mad at the rules of the game, just be mad at how you played it or create a new game for yourself in the form of starting your own business.

Try getting a job in the kind of industry where people are "rehabbed" from the type of shyt you were arrested for. Like you got a dui? You might have a chance working at AA clinics or related services. They make allowences because they know you're reformed. I mean, if you're actually reformed haha. Social services jobs and such.

yeah unless you want to teach in the prisons, you aren't getting a job as a teacher or professor. Sorry. But you can go back to school and get your LPC or any type of social service related degree and work with addicts. That is your best bet.

I'm not sure about non degree jobs with addicts, but I know that you won't be able to teach no matter what. You have to be sparkling to do that.

all is not lost, depending on where you live you might be able to get your record sealed/expunged, even for a felony, or even a pardon. there are organizations out there that you can find info about that. National Employment Law Project

also try applying to smaller companies especially those in the tech or creative industries for work cause a lot of them can't be bothered or lack the resources to do background checks.

Agreed, I would also suggest doing any kind of community volunteer work and use that on resumes (and listing references). Perhaps that would show you are now living a positive life and all that.

Volunteer work is great, there are all kinds of opportunities out there, and it helps to show you're committed to your career. It's not just working on suicide hotlines or boring shyt. I have been job hunting, but if I don't get a job, I plan on volunteering as a tutor for at-risk children.

This is your best bet Kermit because if you can't get that record expunged then that particular degree is useless.
