Oh and don't go back to school. There is really nothing you can do with 2 degrees and a felony that you can't do with one degree and a felony. fukk that...it's a waste of money. Put your resources towards starting your own business or finding out how to get your charge expunged off your record.

Damn :to: y'all got me thinking I should drop out of this masters program. I thought a phd might force them to take me seriously.

How much time do you have left in school? if it's at least a year, I'd say focus on getting your background cleaned up while you go to school. If somehow you can get the charge expunged and graduate around the same time, then you'll be straight.

That degree will do you absolutely no good without getting your records expunged, he is completely right.

To be a teacher, you have to have a clean record and basically be a saint. If you want to teach kids, that is a no go. If you want to teach adults, I have no idea how that would work but I doubt it would be a good thing to have on your side.

If all else fails, there are jobs you can take in social services, like patient advocacy, that only require a bachelor's degree and you don't need to have a counseling license or anything. IF you decide to go that career route.

man keep going for that degree and excel at it and pick up some additional skills cause when it come down to it getting hired is based on, depending on the company and field of course, how bad they value you and see you as a future employee record or no record. there are lot's of people out there with records getting hired most of the bad stats relate to the typical convict without skills or education. polish up yourself to come off presentable and "safe" and network your ass off cause if you get in good with a hiring manager before that hr screen shred your resume you'll be good.

Even if someone gives him a chance to work, it will still probably be a grossly underpaid position based on the fact that he has a record. Being grossly underpaid is "better" with just an undergrad degree than with an advanced degree. Getting his record cleaned up is most important. That way him and his education can be taken seriously. fukk having to "prove yourself" or work your way up over a weed conviction when you have more skill and education that your fukk ass co-workers.

i'm assuming he has a felony if he was "moving work across state lines" so he might not be able to get his record sealed but in any case i doubt anyone, at least for any have decent company would try to low ball him and even if they did at least he'll have something on his resume which is a good start to get a better job and yes if he's employed with a criminal record he best put his best foot forward and prove himself to show that he's worthwhile and worth the risk of hiring him over other candidates.
