Growing in the 80s and 90s with a lot of classy females in my family and seeing TV characters like Claire Huxtable, Donna, Fred's GF on Sanford and Son. Even Weezy Jefferson and Ester has a level of dignity and pride. You could not express to my that we didn't have the nicest and classiest women around. So growing up, dating outside of my race never crossed my mind. Even in the 2000s, there were ratchet things happened but usually it was hidden and hard to find out in the open.

The BET Award was really sad last night. So much twerking and very revealing outfits. The host seemed drunk and wild. This aint us man. I have to but a lot of the men too. We have so many simps pandering and even men like me, not saying anything. Most women don't know how bad and crazy they look. Look at little Kim out there. Somebody needs to say something. WE really need to restore proud and class back into our culture.

I see why Hov and Beyonce don't come. It's our of control. Every thing doesn't need to be a party or club atmosphere. We're way better than that.

Blame the music. It created the culture that we're in right now. You basically have a majority of black music(rap/hiphop) promoting some sort of degeneracy(drugs/promiscuity/violence) compared to the 70s to 90s where r&b was king.

Is that poster wrong though?

When the culture chases the entertainment(ie the fools) then what happens?

Everything becomes a turn up moment.

Dinner out. Graduations. Weddings. Funerals. Workplaces.

It's not about dikkriding others, it's about seeing what's working and what's broke.
Yes he is wrong especially in entertainment with scripted ridiculous storylines and exaggerated dialogue with the most ridiculous people on there with equally ridiculous costumes and all this leads to stereotyping especially on race , etc to make a profit and this has been happening since forever. I woulda thought this would be common sense but I guess not

(not specific to you) Nikkas gotta stop capping and acting like they’re even watching and consuming a significant amount of others races media and entertainment on a consistent basis that is even close to the same as their own race in biased Americanized media to then cap and put them on a higher level to spew bullshyt rhetoric like “we are the ONLY Race that does this no other race does this” Constantly and devoid the conversation of nuance not bring up significant contributors as to why a section of people in a “community” have a culture that is the way it is and chalk it up as excuses and also realize that in some aspects it's not that deep and people are just complaining about stupid insignificant shyt (bonnets at airport) and can just change the narrative through educating or just simply ignore it cuz most of the shyt people complain about on here and online are coming from a minority irrelevant people that you shouldn't sweat and keep it moving.

As I said before:

People are numb and need more to feel less.

Wait till you see what happens a few generations down the line when mankind is divorced well and truly from their humanity and virtual insanity becomes standard reality.

How adults act in the presence of impressionable teenagers and children is what shapes the view of morality of a community at large. Now, "twerking/whining" has been around for centuries, with portuguese explorers in the 1500s documenting how "liberally" women of certain ethnic groups from west and central Africa danced in ceremonies.

For a long time, children were shielded from this aspect of their culture even in the tv age from the 60s to the 90s till they got older and understood the context of certain dances and so forth, it wasn't just done anywhere, in front of cameras etc, even on television for a long time there were certain levels that adults wouldn't breech because what they were portraying were not to be shown to everybody.

You think those innocent looking African/Carribean/Black women in those 70s pictures with Afros couldn't "buss" a whine, they could, but they shielded it for so long that most children growing up in that era did not know that it was happening until they themselves grew up and started getting a taste of the nightlife. In short, what is lacking in society nowadays is discretion.

When you don’t own your culture, this is the potential outcome. It’s old rich white people in boardrooms that’s making determinations on the trajectory of Black culture.

On the other hand, I absolutely hate it when Black folks here say they have no culture when a huge chunk of Americana is directly accredited to the cultural expressions of Black people being taken and repurposed for white consumption. The fact is, we’ve been convinced that Culture has no real meaning beyond entertainment when it’s a process of mass human domestication so to speak.

This is also a case of a phenomenon impacting Black America just a little harder. The shift from High Culture to Pop Culture has been across the board. Truth is, American culture in general is becoming more and more trash.
How much of it is still black peoples culture if they don’t own it? :mjcry:

Y'all tripping for real. The problem is you aren't seeking out anything better, while complaining about it not being there. Yes there's the BET awards. There's also the Essence awards. Do y'all talk about that or praise that or push that high in the ratings? What about the NAACP awards? No of course not... because YOU love the ratchet shyt yourself

You can listen to Talib Kweli... Public Enemy still making music. Dead Prez is still out. You can find thousands of music artists on your spotify that don't rap nonsense, don't have women dressed slutty, only speak positive.. Are y'all running out to give that 1 million streams? fukk no. You in here clowning Russ and buying Future album. That's a YOU problem

I walk around every day and never encounter these black people you speak of, unless I want to. I have to go turn on Pusha T. I gotta go pull up Megan's IG. I gotta come to the coli and talk about the BET awards. That's MY fault. There's plenty of other culturally black things I can focus on, and easily too. Don't give me this "it's hard to find" bullshyt either. It's easy as fukk to find.

No, they don't.. And at the MTV awards, it was the same way. Where MTV and BET was supposed to be for the musicians to be themselves and you have the other shows to dress up. These are the "FUN" shows, like CMT awards. Cause why just have 5 grammy copies every year

I don't really care. Social media being such a large factor in everyone's lives, I'm not surprised at the amount of people that do what they do for attention (whether they acknowledge it or not).

I'm also not bothered by missed interactions with others if they strayed because of how they generalize communities or races. That shows a voluntary denial of logic, and those the kinds of people i cannot tolerate anyway.

The clout chasing is definitely entertaining, but its oversaturation is way too abundant. The people that thrive off of likes are slowly phasing themselves out. Eventually there will be unspoken social media rules and additionally there will be laws to deter mfs from doing whatever it takes just to try to go viral

they are seen as white trash and seen as seperate from the "cultured" whites in LA/NYC/San Fran/Austin/etc.

our lower class is propped up and treated as tho they are the "real" black people, more cool and in touch with the culture. joe dirt and em is not seen as cool

white mainstream culture has gotten trashier and emptier tho in the last 10 years.

That’s the reason the Royal Family exist. To portray the image of an exhalted standard of whiteness otherwise the image of “Great Britain” for example would be football and rugby hooligans or whatever else.

Yes there is a balance but “minority” groups don’t have that luxury so are naturally extra cautious about their image, or should be
