Saw something I thought was funny today. Meg said she was embarrased by Texas due to the abortion laws. I had to laugh, like wow of all things that's the thing you're embarrased about. The irony for multiple reasons.
Super facts brehHere’s my problem and like @2Quik4UHoes said similar , the representation and the decline of strong black men portrayed in media
In the 1970’s we had James evans, George Jefferson , Fred Sanford even though the latter 2 was comedy on they shows, they was still black men in their children lives, to fight off the black exploitation pimps and drug dealers we saw in movies
1980s u had bill Cosby and the professors on different world in black children lives to combat the Scarface type of movies
1990s with all the gangster shyt the media tried to show black men in negative light, you still had the lights of uncle Phil, Carl Winslow off of family matters, ROC, Malik Yoba on New York undercover who was always in his kid life and even the comedy like Martin, wayan brothers, you still had a positive image of black men and even with gangster rap u still had rappers with a conscious in their music to fight off these negative stereotypes these companies wanted to portray black men
Then the 2000s u had Damon wayans show, dl Hughley , Bernie Mac and a few others where black men still had pride and masculine energy on tv
But since 2010/11 the strong family oriented black man is no more in media.. replaced by gay black man, white men with black women and thugs/criminals who are the face of black men and u hear no complaints from our women on a whole about it..
U even have these new black men and these black women attacking Ice Cube who was trying to get us together with his plan for black America and the Roland martins, dl Hughleys , Vivica wax face fox, Lisa Raye and others got mad because cube was reaching out to the right and others because the dems didn’t want to hear it.
U got new blacks mad at Kevin Samuels who showed u stats to back up his claim about the decline of black marriages but have no problem listening to Angela Yee ratchet show about fukking and sucking everyone and everywhere with entertainers
The black community on a whole is in a coma and the chances are not looking good
At the same time, we had Black Star and De La Soul do this same song and dance back in the day.Kendrick, Lupe Fiasco, and other rappers/entertainers are starting to publicly speak out about how destructive the culture had become. Its become beyond embarrassing
But how is that funny?
Irony falls under the umbrella of humor. Technically it shouldn't be funny. In fact it should be tragic. I'm not one of those dudes so cynical and mad at women that I'm okay with Roe being overturned. I'm pro choice, however, I ain't so naive to turn a blind eye to people being irresponsible and ignorant either. Meg is the poster girl for ratchet and irresponsible women. She thinks what she does is empowerment. It's not. It is however ironic that Texas abortion laws are what's she ashamed of, but she's not ashamed of promoting an image and lifestyle (arguably a subculture) that contributes to women heading towards a collision with those same laws. Her fans with unwanted pregnancies in Texas wont be singing WAP when trying to figure out how to get to New Mexico or Colorado for a procedure without getting caught.
To answer your question......yes. However, you can't limit the argument to women. Men have been embarrassing and just a ratchet. All the way back from rappers lying about their homes in MTV cribs to the bling bling culture. Let's know forget music videos of rappers driving cars in the hood more expensive than a block of homes they drive across. As for Hov and Beyonce, I disagree considering that's exactly how they made their cheese.Growing in the 80s and 90s with a lot of classy females in my family and seeing TV characters like Claire Huxtable, Donna, Fred's GF on Sanford and Son. Even Weezy Jefferson and Ester has a level of dignity and pride. You could not express to my that we didn't have the nicest and classiest women around. So growing up, dating outside of my race never crossed my mind. Even in the 2000s, there were ratchet things happened but usually it was hidden and hard to find out in the open.
The BET Award was really sad last night. So much twerking and very revealing outfits. The host seemed drunk and wild. This aint us man. I have to but a lot of the men too. We have so many simps pandering and even men like me, not saying anything. Most women don't know how bad and crazy they look. Look at little Kim out there. Somebody needs to say something. WE really need to restore proud and class back into our culture.
I see why Hov and Beyonce don't come. It's our of control. Every thing doesn't need to be a party or club atmosphere. We're way better than that.
The difference is white people are profiting from our ratchetness.Once again, white people do some foul shyt and you johnny come lately's find a way to blame black people.
The difference is white people are profiting from our ratchetness.
Absolutely not. But we are perceived from them.Do you think the average black person is represented at the BET awards.
Absolutely not. But we are perceived from them.
Coma? Pandora box has been open and in the last decade plummeted the whole box. Ain’t no reversing this. If you ain’t ratchet or a super thug in your raps you are automatically alt hip hop. Culture and class is absent. BET Awards is PT Barnum’s wet dreamHere’s my problem and like @2Quik4UHoes said similar , the representation and the decline of strong black men portrayed in media
